research/photos from the internet to speed up the writing process, HOWEVER…
5. If you do copy and paste (or copy if handwritten) text from the internet, please edit it carefully to ensure it includes embedded relative clauses to hit the success criteria.
Main Activity - Step 2
Follow the structure over the next two days to write a non-chronological report about your chosen topic:
1. A Heading - For example, Awe-inspiring Arctic Animals. 2. Introductory Paragraph - For example:
‘The Arctic region, which is found in the northernmost part of Europe, has an
extremely harsh and unforgiving climate. There are several awe-inspiring animals, who have all adapted to this inhospitable environment, that call the Arctic home. In the Artic, where conditions can cause even the snow to feel a chill, animals are required to hunt to survive.’
(*Mr Terry did copy and paste this information from the internet, but added embedded [relative] clauses to hit the success criteria) 3. A subheading - For example, The Arctic Fox
4. Report (below subheading) - For example:
‘The Arctic Fox, which often glides camouflaged across the white snow, is an animal that can survive frigid temperatures. In summer, the Arctic Fox is a blueish brown to grey colour. However, by winter its long, luscious fur has turned pure white. The white of the fur, that the Arctic Fox to keep warm, helps it to camouflage from its predators and also to remain hidden from its prey until it is ready to pounce! Arctic Foxes, who have successfully adapted to the freezing temperatures over time, have many
adaptations to survive in the treeless environment. They have short bushy tails (that they curl around them for warmth); their ears are curled and tiny – to reduce heat-loss; and their paws are wide so that their surface areas is increased and they become less likely to slip.’
(*Again… Mr Terry did copy and paste this information from the internet, but added embedded [relative] clauses to hit the success criteria)
