5 FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES EXTINGUISHING MEDIA

Water spray, foam, dry powder or carbon dioxide. Do not use water jet as an extinguisher, as this will spread the fire. Use fire-extinguishing media appropriate for surrounding materials.

SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES

Use water spray to cool container and prevent rupture.

SPECIFIC HAZARDS

Can react with some metals generating Hydrogen gas. Reaction with moisture may generate sufficient heat to ignite combustible material.

PROTECTIVE MEASURES IN FIRE

Self contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing must be worn in case of fire.

6 ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS

Wear protective clothing as described in Section 8 of this safety data sheet.

ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS

Do not discharge into drains, water courses or onto the ground.

SPILL CLEAN UP METHODS

Neutralise small spillages with Sodium Bicarbonate or a mixture of Soda Ash / Slaked Lime. Shovel residue into clearly marked containers for disposal. Contain large spillages with sand or earth. Recover for re-use or salvage.

7 HANDLING AND STORAGE USAGE PRECAUTIONS

Avoid inhalation of high concentrations of dust. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Keep away from aluminium, zinc, lead, tin, acids and chlorinated hydrocarbons. Great care should be taken when dissolving in water (high exothermic reaction).
