What Should we do today?

Kainui and Brynn, best friends since first grade, were sitting at home with nothing to do. Brynn suggested they go ride bikes along the beach, Kainui had something better in mind. “What about if we go to the beach and surf?” Brynn said, “Hey

that’s a good idea, let’s go.”

(4)

It just so happened that Brynn and Kainui were walking down Spongebob’s street on their way to the beach where they spotted him. He was sitting outside his

Pineapple house bored out of his mind. He did not know what to do on his day off. “Hey look it’s SpongeBob, what do you think he’s up to?” said Brynn. “I don’t know let’s go see.” Kainui replied.

(5)

“Hey Spongebob, what are you up to today?” said Brynn. Spongebob replied “Oh nothing just sitting here bored out of my mind.” Kainui said,

“Wanna come surfing with us? Even Lilo and Angela are going to be there.” So Spongebob decided to go.

Kauini and Brynn said “Spongebob, you are huge!!” Spongebob replied “Yes, but I have less mass, there is less stuff in me because I’m a sponge made of mostly air.” Brynn and Kauini were trying to make fun of Spongebob but it didn’t work that well.

When they all got to the beach, they met up with Lilo & Angela. After about 10 minutes of catching up, they got ready to go surf.

(10)
(11)

Since Kauini was still learning how to surf, she decided to stay at a constant speed. Spongebob and Brynn already knew how to surf so, they decided they would accelerate and race each other! Angela and Lilo wanted to relax so they laid on their surfboards in the ocean. “Watch out Anglea I see a shark fin!”

“Where?” replied Angela. “Just kidding”, Lilo chuckles. “Lilo that’s not funny, your jokes aren’t cool,” Angela complained. “Jeez I was only trying to make you laugh.”

Kainui lied on her surfboard and paddled into the ocean. She noticed the wind pushing her further and further into the ocean. “Oh no, Help… Help..” She

screamed. She was really scared so she paddled hard toward the shore. She sped up quickly toward the shore!

As Kainui lied on her surfboard and paddled into the ocean. She noticed the wind pushing her in out farther and farther out into the ocean. “Oh no, Help… Help..” she screamed. She was really scared so she paddled hard toward the shore. She accelerated quickly toward the shore!

(15)

Kainui reached the shore and watched Brynn and Spongebob recieve surfing lessons from Angela and Lilo.

Kainui saw a big wave approaching Brynn and Spongebob, and started a

countdown for their race. “3....2....1..GO!” The big wave comes crashing towards the two and at first it was unclear who was winning....

(16)

Then a big wave was coming directly towards Brynn and Spongebob.

(17)

Newton’s 2nd law says if the same force acts on a big mass and a little mass, the little mass will accelerate more. So, when the wave hits both Spongebob and Brynn, it accelerates Spongebob more because he has a smaller mass.

17 Then a big wave was coming directly towards Brynn and Spongebob.

(18)
(19)

While Spongebob was riding the waves, a little wave came and it barely moved him. THEN, a much larger wave came and he went FLYING toward the shore “Cowabunga!” Spongebob yelled.

(20)
(21)

Meanwhile, The surf instructors weren’t paying Spongebob any attention when, a huge wave was coming directly towardsthem. They paddled hard, caught the wave, then stood upright on the board. “Weeee, this is fun!” yelled Lilo!

Both their surfboards crashed into the sand and they kept flying forward through the air. They landed on a little kid’s sand castle “Are you kidding me!” screamed the kid.

Newton’s 1st Law explains an object in motion stays in motion, an object at rest stays at rest. The surfboards with their riders were moving forward when they hit the beach. The force of the sand stopped the surfboard but no force acted on the riders (Angela and Lilo) so they kept moving in a straight line at a constant speed until the force of the

After the race was over they all went to get Shave Ice and for they cooled off for the rest of the day.
