Adult Education and

Vocational Training

(2)

Lifelong education has rapidly gained signi-ficance during recent years, and will play an important part in people’s lives in the future. Processes of lifelong education take place in public institutions and in the business sector, as well as in an informal and self-organised manner. Given this context, the Master’s Degree Programme is geared towards teaching, lear-ning and educational processes in the sphere of Adult Education and Vocational Training.

The Master’s Degree Programme in Adult Edu-cation and VoEdu-cational Training is the only de-gree on offer in all of Austria, which combines two important segments of lifelong learning – these being Adult Education and Vocatio-nal Education. It follows the guiding principle “Theoria cum praxi – science for the benefit and welfare of the people”. The teaching objectives and skills profile of the Master’s Degree Pro-gramme are the following:

• Analysis and design of processes of lifelong education,

• research into and design of the connec- tion between work – (continued) educa- tion – life world and life career,

• analysis and design of appropriate lear- ning worlds and learning cultures for adults,

• professionalism and quality assurance in the occupational field of Adult and/or Continuing Education

• development and innovation in organisa- tions and by suppliers of Adult Education and Vocational Training.

Mag. Kathrin Ofner

Co-ordinator of the Platform Adult Education Carinthia/Koroška

“I have very positive recollections of my degree in the field of Adult Education and Vocational Training. The pleasant, informal atmosphere at the AAU, in the relations both with the professors and with other students, was highly motivating. I also found the contents of the courses taught to be orientated to the needs of the profession to a large extent, and extremely useful in my daily work.”
