Introduction
This document details vendor software requirements for IBM® FileNet® Integrated Document
Management (IDM), Content Services (CS), eForms, and eProcess. Use this guide to determine which vendor products are compatible with your FileNet IDM, CS and eForms products.
IMPORTANT While IBM provides support for independent software vendor releases, versions, service packs and Fix Packs, IBM has no control over the content and cannot guarantee compatibility with IBM FileNet products. In addition, IBM can only support these independent software vendor products in accordance with the vendor's own product dependencies and support statements.
The hardware and software products NOT mentioned in this document are NOT supported with IBM FileNet products.

Virtualization support for IBM FileNet IDM
VMWare support for IDM
IDM is supported on VMWare virtual environment with some exceptions. The exceptions are:
the limitation documented with Image Services (IS) for using optical devices (Refer to the section 'VMWare Support' under 'Miscellaneous Enhancements' atftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/data/cm/filenet/docs/isdoc/40x/RcdSP4.pdf).
FnSysMgr.exe is an application used extensively in IDM COM+ application to enable server logon [idmLogonOptServerNoUI], will not work under remote sessions. Application will fail to launch when the box is accessed using terminal services, thereby pooling logon sessions to an IS library server in a Web server environment will not be available."

eProcess 5.1.0 supports JRE 1.4.2 plus 1.4.2_01 through 1.4.2_06.
For eProcess 5.2.0, if a JRE is not already installed on the client, Sun Java 2 Plug-In (JRE) 1.6.0_02 is downloaded the first time the browser logs into the Web server. eProcess Java applets are supported on all platforms and with all browsers supported by Open Client. Examples of browsers that meet Open Client requirements are Internet Explorer 6.0 and Netscape 7.2.
Excessive logon times may be experienced the first time users log on using the Process applets via Java Remote Method Invocation (RMI) if a firewall exists between the Web Server and the client. The suggested workaround is to use Open Client which has an HTML interface and is unaffected by RMI performance issues.
Visual WorkFlo 3.6 can co-exist on the same client with IBM FileNet IDM Desktop 4.0. ISTK 4.1.2/4.2 cannot be installed on VW Thick Clients, instead, use ISTK 4.0.50.x or ISTK 4.1.1.x.

Unified Logon
To enable “unified” or “single” logon, use both the IS and CS components as described:
Export groups or users from the NT domain server and import them into the IS security database. These tools are available on the IS 4.1 media, and instructions for their use are the IBM FileNet Image Services System Tools Reference Manual.
Bulk import of NT domain groups or users to CS is also available. On a CS server, open the Windows Control Panel, click on the CS Configuration icon, and then click on the User Import tab.
SMTP
An SMTP service product is required for email notification of workflow events. Install on the WorkFlo Server or a server the WorkFlo Server can communicate with. Configure to check port 25.
Examples are Interchange Services for e-business from IBM, OpenView or ManageX from Hewlett Packard (HP), and IIS from Microsoft or independent software vendors, such as the Apache Software Foundation. Due to Hotmail architecture, the HTML Step Processor does not display correctly when initiated from an e-mail notification link in a Hotmail message.
