This stylish, spacious apartment makes up a piece of Norwich history. The building belonged to the YMCA for almost 130 years and has seen countless individuals pass through its doors over the years, receiving the help and support they needed to get back on their feet. The property dates back to the late 18th century and still benefits from the wonderful proportions of the Georgian era, with high ceilings, excellent airy spaces and sash windows that flood the rooms with light. In converting the former hostel into apartments the developer put his heart and soul into bringing the building back to life and restoring it to its former glory while creating impressive homes that work brilliantly for modern city living.

City Living At Its Best

This property is in the heart of the action, sitting in a stunning period building on the handsome St. Giles Street, one of the finest Georgian parts of the city. You’ll find first class delicatessens, cafes, art galleries and more here as well as a wide range of interesting shops and restaurants, many of which have a justifiably excellent reputation. The area forms part of the Norwich Lanes, winner of the ‘city’ category of the Great British High Street awards 2014. With its fine medieval architecture, museums, churches, independent retailers and bars it’s the perfect place to while away the day before returning home well fed and content! Norwich itself has a thriving arts scene with the art school and university attracting a constant stream of new talent working alongside established writers and artists. Several theatres within the city provide plenty of entertainment and the nightlife here is superb. It’s also one of the top ten shopping destinations in the country, with two large malls and the largest permanent open-air market in the country. Whether it’s high street stalwarts or a local speciality, you’ll find it on your doorstep here!

Substantial Living Space

The bedroom space in the apartment can be found to the front of the property, with sash windows framing views over the elegant street beyond. Georgian homes are always popular for their high ceilings, graceful proportions and airy feel and this apartment is no exception! With substantial living and kitchen space and generous double bedrooms there’s a wonderfully luxurious feel. The apartment boasts glorious character and has its own individual charm. The finish is impeccable, as befits such an iconic building, with AEG appliances in the kitchen, Duravit sanitary ware and underfloor heating in the bathrooms. Configured to make the most of the floor space, the apartment fuses character and contemporary, with splendid period proportions and layout designed for today’s busy lives. This apartment is one of which you can be justifiably proud – a magnificent property in a superlative location.

The Accommodation

Taking the stairs up to the second floor, you move through the door of the apartment into the entrance hall. You move into the sitting/dining room, where you note the exposed iron rafters, raised ceilings and the wood flooring underfoot along with the two sash windows to the rear aspect. From here you have an opening and access into the kitchen. Integrated within you have a microwave, double oven, an AEG ceramic hob with extractor above and a one and a half bowl stainless steel sink unit. There is a built in fridge freezer and a built in dishwasher and washing machine. You note the cupboard housing the gas fired boiler. There is a cabinet and drawers to two aspects which contrast well with the wooden worktops which incorporates a breakfast bar. Moving back to the entrance hall, you move through to the master bedroom suite, which has two sash windows to the front aspect providing views over St.Giles. Moving through to the en-suite shower room, this is fitted with a three piece suite comprising walk-in shower cubicle, low level WC, wall mounted hand wash basin and a heated towel rail and has an obscured window to the front aspect. This is part tiled and has underfloor heating. Moving back to the hallway, you move through to the main bathroom. Again this has underfloor heating and is fitted with a large vanity hand wash basin, a low level WC and a bath with shower attachment and shower over along with a heated towel rail. You move through into bedroom two, which has full height ceilings and a window to the front elevation. Within the main entrance hall, you discover security boxes for post along with meter cupboards. There is a door to the rear with a communal paved terrace area. Here you discover bin storage and bike rack.
