Mobile Assurance Portfolio

The JDSU Mobile Assurance portfolio offers industry-leading probe-based monitor-ing and test solutions, plus associated professional services, that enable mobile service providers to define, roll out, and deliver high-quality voice, data, and multi-media services to their customers. Covering all the major wireless technologies — GSM, GPRS, UMTS, MSS, LTE, CDMA, and CDMA 2000 — the JDSU Mobile Assurance portfolio can also ensure trouble-free interoperability across multiple technology networks, either within a single provider, or between multiple providers. The JDSU Mobile Assurance Portfolio also offers solutions across both the major categories of probe-based assurance systems — passive monitoring solutions and active test solu-tions — so regardless of your mobile monitoring and test requirements, JDSU has a solution for you.

passive Monitoring Solutions

Based on high-capacity probes located at points of traffic concentration in the core network, passive monitoring solutions copy signaling and user data, typically for all subscriber calls/sessions, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Analysis of the captured data lets providers generate network and service volume and quality measurements for all subscribers, a specified sub-group of subscribers, or an individual subscriber. Detailed transactional analysis of an individual call/session is also available to diagnose even complex problems. Different applications provide different types of analyses, including real-time event monitoring, detailed troubleshooting, and his-torical reporting.

The JDSU Mobile Assurance portfolio includes the following passive monitoring solutions:

• acceSS7 — to assure GSM, GPRS, UMTS, MSS, and CDMA mobile networks and

services

• accessLTE — to assure LTE mobile networks and services

(12)

Active test Solutions

Based on device-simulating probes located at subscriber locations, active test solutions execute calls/sessions end-to-end across the whole network. Typically conducting calls at scheduled intervals (or on demand) and locations, the test probes generate service-quality measurements for the executed calls/sessions which are representative of the actual service quality that subscribers making calls/ses-sions experience. Software Service Validation Packages (SVPs) provide test profiles that thoroughly characterize specified services, and a mobile identity (MI) server provides a central pool of SIM modules to enable the use of various subscriber pro-files during the tests.

The JDSU Mobile Assurance portfolio includes the RCATS active test to assure GSM, GPRS, UMTS, LTE, CDMA, and CDMA 2000 mobile networks and services.

Value proposition

• Enables pre-testing and fault de-bugging of new network technologies and services prior to commercial rollout (active test solutions only).

• Significantly reduces (up to >80 percent) the time it takes to detect and diagnose service-impacting faults.

• Provides accurate and detailed statistical information such as volumes, success rates, failure causes, and durations for the following (passive monitoring solu-tions only):

– subscriber calls/sessions –network equipment traffic levels

–roaming/interconnect partner calls/sessions –subscriber usage of devices/bandwidth/applications.

Compared to similar, probe-based passive monitoring solutions, the JDSU portfo-lio offers faster fault resolution via integrated applications (typically fewer than three mouse-clicks to diagnose any problem) and more powerful automatic correlation of data, greater scalability, and the most effective pre- and post-sale services. On the active test side, JDSU offers more effective test scheduling, scalability, and services compared to similar solutions.

this application is dedicated to the real-time monitoring of SIGTRAN (SS7 over IP) networks, including SIGTRAN Link Status monitoring, to immediately identify any high-impact IP link issues.

• Centralized Roaming Management System (CRMS) — performs KPI-based real-time monitoring plus historical reporting of high-value GSM, GPRS, and UMTS roaming services. It tracks critical procedures for both inbound and outbound roam-ing and raises alarms to highlight potential service issues and generates performance reports, including the benchmarking of roaming partners.

• Session Trace (ST) — is an easy-to-use, powerful network and service

troubleshoot-ing tool that automatically identifies and correlates data associated with each call or session and illustrates the call/session signaling procedures from start to end, high-lighting any abnormal occurrences. With the ability to perform this analysis in real time, or on stored historical data, ST enables fast diagnosis of even the most complex network and service faults. ST supports troubleshooting of GSM, GPRS, UMTS, MSS, LTE, CDMA, and CDMA 2000 networks and services.

• Protocol Analysis (PA) — complementary to ST, is a flexible message capture and

protocol decode tool for troubleshooting non-call or session-related problems. With configurable capture triggers and filters, it rapidly captures the messages of interest and decodes the contents to diagnose problems. PA supports troubleshooting of GSM, GPRS, UMTS, and CDMA networks.

• Data Mining Toolkit (DMT)/accessIQ — are business intelligence (BI) analysis and reporting applications. BI analysis/reporting profiles KPIs across multiple dimensions, for example, detailing the activation success for a specific service by device type by cell location. BI analysis/reporting can reveal (otherwise difficult to detect) service prob-lems limited to particular dimensions and can profile customer use of applications, devices, and bandwidth, among others. The DMT and access iQ support BI analysis/ reporting of GSM, GPRS, UMTS, and CDMA networks and services.
