CSR has launched a disruptive new Bluetooth® Smart solution designed to place the smartphone at the center of the Internet of Things. The CSRmesh protocol uses Bluetooth Smart to send messages to other Bluetooth Smart devices in the network, which in turn relay them onward. Messages can be addressed to individual devices or groups of devices. It is also possible for devices to belong to multiple groups. Control is enabled via any recent smartphone that supports the Bluetooth Smart standard, or via standard control devices such as light switches or control panels that have been Bluetooth Smart enabled. To start developing with the recently launched CSRmesh Bluetooth Smart protocol CSR have introduced the CSRmesh™ Development Kit.

The kit includes development boards, a USB programmer and access to the development platform (SDK) which includes example applications to accelerate the development of new low power connected Internet-of-Things (IoT) products. The SDK is initially offered with software supporting networked lighting applications, with updates for home automation and other IoT applications based on CSRmesh due later in the year.

The solution combines a configuration and control protocol with CSR’s proven Bluetooth Smart devices,

including the CSR101x™ family.

Allegro’s smallest current sensor linear IC, the

ACS711, is now housed in a 0.75 mm thick low profile QFN package measuring only 3 mm x 3 mm! This new micro sized device is possibly the smallest fully integrated linear current sensor IC in the world! With only a 0.6mOhm internal resistance, this package can really take the heat. The device can be used for applications with over 30 A continuous current while reducing power consumption by an order of magnitude over existing sense resistor op-amp solutions.

The A4915 is designed for pulse width modulated (PWM) current control of 3-phase brushless DC motors. The A4915 is capable of high current gate drive for 6 all N-channel power MOSFETs. An internal charge pump ensures gate drive down to 7 V supply and provides limited gate drive down to 5 V. A bootstrap capacitor is used to generate a supply voltage greater than the source voltage of the high side MOSFET, required for N-channel MOSFETs. It is targeted for the industrial and consumer markets and is an excellent choice for power tool applications.
