Everyone stay inside as much as possible. Hopefully we will all get through this soon and come out fine on the

has. Everyday I am enveloped by some sad or

dis-paraging news, but buried somewhere in the hype,

the confusion, the chaos, there is always something

great. This club is great, resilient, and tenacious.

We have motored on, holding safe tours, safe

meet-ings, and still heading out for adventure. I miss the

genuine free spirit we once had but applaud the

It is great every

time I get to see and talk to you guys.

We still have some surprises in store and maybe

even a Mystery Tour to hold. I feel like our 60th

Anni-versary will likely be celebrated in our 61st year but

So in the meantime be safe, be adventurous, never

surrender.

Godspeed,

AJ

GRA-NEVA MODEL A CLUB

GENERAL MEETING MINUTES

July 23, 2020

CALL TO ORDER: President Aaron Johnson called the meeting to order at 7:07 pm and welcomed everyone to the meeting at Western Gateway Park in Penn Valley. He especially welcomed our newest members, Wayne and Tish Buti on attending their second meeting.

REPORTS:

VICE-PRESIDENT Bill Mitchell reported on ACCC and said we seem to be caught up now.

SECRETARY Sandy had no report. Aaron asked the Club if anyone had any additions or corrections to Minutes or the Newsletter published in June 2020. There were none. A motion to approve the minutes was made by Jerry Dorville and seconded by Steve Straw. The Club voted to approve.

TREASURER Jan Elliot was absent.

EDITOR Sharon Pierce was absent.

MEMBERSHIP Kristi Turnsk welcomed our newest members, Wayne and Tish Buti, again to the Club

PUBLICITY Bobbie Whiting was absent.

SUNSHINE Aaron reported for Jennifer Johnson that a sympathy card had been sent to Virginia and Calvin Campbell for their recent loss of a family member.

TECHNICAL Ron Pierce was absent.

TOUR CHAIRMAN Vern Harms told us that although no tours were scheduled lately a spontaneous Model A tour was organized by Ron Pierce and Calvin Campbell on July 4. The group drove around Grass Valley and Nevada City and had

a g ea ece i f e e a i g a d ce eb a i g he H ida . The e e e 9 M de A i he g a d ice c ea

at the end of the ride.

Future Tours: August -Possibly a Yard Art Tour organized by Kay Harms contest to spot specific art. Sept 13 Winery Tour of Lucchesi Vineyards organized by Kristi and Steve Turnsk. Oct LWW Car Show/Picnic/Pontoon Boat Ride by Bill Yanko is still planned

Other Ideas: Vern suggested having a short tour driving locally and getting root beer floats.

Another idea was meeting on Tuesday evenings 6-8pm at Baskin Robbins for ice cream.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Saturday Sept. 19 will be the Fall Hill Climb announced by Steve Straw. It will be held near the Auburn Airport. If we were to go as a group and all arrive at the same time we would get in for half price, $5. Steve Turnsk announced that On Saturday, November 7 the Trans-Sierra 88 Rally will be held. It will be a rally from

gatherings Nov. 6 & 8. It was suggested we could go to Downieville in modern cars to be there to greet the drivers when they arrive on Nov. 7.

OLD BUSINESS: None

(6)

(page two of the Minutes)

SHERIFF COLLECTS BADGE FINES: Steve Straw collected $2.00

ATTENDANCE AWARD The name drawn for the award was Irene Travis who was not present.

GOTS AND WANTS: Vern announced that a former member is selling a Model A tool kit for $20 and many manuals and catalogues for $5 each. He will give whatever he earns from this to the Club.

Aaron Johnson stated that he had a question for the board to vote on since we have a quorum tonight.

Karen Mitchell is printing the few copies of our newsletter that need to go to members via USPS. She would like to do the copying at home rather than having House of Print and Copy do it. The House of Print and copy charges $2.50 for the number of pages she usually needs. By doing it at home the Club would save $2.50 monthly.

Aaron asked if the board would approve this change. The board members present approved this change. Board members included: Aaron Johnson, Bill Mitchell, Sandy Yanko, Vern Harms and Kristi Turnsk.

50-50 RAFFLE The winner of the raffle, Steve Straw, received $20.

ADJOURNMENT Before adjourning Aaron asked the group if they liked meeting in parks and everyone said they did. Aaron suggested looking into Condon Park in Grass Valley for our next meeting.

Aaron adjourned the meeting at 7:45

Respectfully submitted, Sandy Yanko, Secretary

ATTENDEES: Bill & Sandy Yanko, Vern and Kay Harms, Steve & Vicki Straw, Jerry Dorville, Janet and Gary Spencer, Aaron Johnson, John Burnside, Bill Mitchell, Wayne & Tish Buti, Kristi & Steve Turnsk

Foresthill Tour

6/27/2020

On Saturday June 27, at 9:30 AM a group of members arrived at K-Mart parking lot for a tour to

Foresthill. With the weather promising to be hot a small group had signed up. I wanted to cancel

the trip but Vern Harms convinced me that it would work out, so off we went.

Upon arriving at our park destination we found a beautiful spot on the lush lawn under some trees.

As promised the restrooms were open. We had the park to ourselves. Everyone brought their own

lunch so nobody could complain about the food. We commenced with doing what we do best. After

some good conversation, it was time to head back down to the heat.

But wait, what about the ice cream? Aaron knew of an ice cream counter in the local market with

tables outside. The view from the tables was beautiful. Made it tough to leave and drive back into

the heat.

Thank you Steve and Ruth Ann Halverson, Vern and Kay Harms, Aaron, Jennifer, and Adler Johnson,

Gary and Janet Spencer and my wife Louise who sometimes acts as my compass and by crutch.
