The task The development of an innovative tube for the future: economical, environmentally friendly, ecological, completely safe and easy to lay.
The result A copper tube of the highest quality and yet with extremely thin walls. A copper tube that is economical, light and easy to bend, even by hand. A copper tube that can be supplied in long lengths, therefore requiring few joints. A copper tube that can be joined with metal press fittings and has a plastic sheath to protect the tube as it is laid.
Q-tecTM – The copper tube, redefined. Q-tecTM convinces because it is a thin-walled copper tube that is frictionally bonded to a polyethylene sheath.
Q-tecTM available in the following dimensions: 14 x 2, 16 x 2 and 20 x 2.
Q-tecTM in lengths of 100 m and more. Q-tecTM safe, light, easy to install.* This is how we have redefined copper. Q-tecTM convinces because it is copper! Q = Cu =Copper quality
* Available immediately for panel heating systems and connection to radiators (DVGW [German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water] approval applied for).
II. Frictional bond
III. PE plastic sheath I. Thin-walled copper tube
Q-tecTM – with all the advantages
of a top-quality copper tube – Q-tecTM stays absolutely hygienic,
making life difficult for legionella bacteria.
– Q-tecTM is 100% diffusion-tight and so offers reliable
security against dangerous incrustation in panel heating. – Q-tecTM has the stability of copper tubes.
– Q-tecTM has low thermal linear deformation.
– Q-tecTM withstands pressure up to 32 bar.
– Q-tecTM also convinces the most critical arithmeticians
who don’t want to be restricted to one system for installation.
– Q-tecTM lasts for the “life of a house”.
– Q-tecTM is copper inside – which makes for taste-free
transportation of drinking water.*
– Q-tecTM advisers provide support with planning
and other services.
Connection technology
Press fittings are “metal on metal” sealed, with a double EPDM sealing element, and with Q-tecTM you do not
need to adhere to any compulsory systems. Simply use Q-tecTM fittings from KME or commercially available
press fittings** with F, U and TH contours as preferred
– just as you might expect of the KME brand of copper tube.

Q-tecTM – the intelligent copper tube
Today
– for panel heating + panel cooling – for radiator connection
– for outdoor heating systems + underground absorbers
– for concrete core activation (cooling/heating) Tomorrow
– for all heating and plumbing applications* Q-tecTM copper tube, seamlessly extruded and
frictionally bonded to a protective PE sheath – 100 m length weighs just 19 kg
(for dimensions 16 x 2) – easy to bend
– easy to install
Q-tecTM –The copper tube, redefined.
Connecting
Commercially available press fittings* with a double EPDM sealing element are used to connect the tube. Their advantage: the metallic fitting seals straight onto the metallic inner surface of the tube. All commercially available pressing tools with an F, U or H contour may be used.
Tool: Pressing tool, F, U, TH jaw
Material: Press fittings with double EPDM sealing element
Distributor connection
The tube is bent by hand in the area where the heating circuit distributor is connected and fitted using commer-cially available clamp couplings.
Commercially available transition couplings (compres- sion fittings/screws) are used for connections to normal control valves.
Material: Clamp couplings, transition couplings
Form of supply
The tube is supplied in 100 m long coils, 10 coils per 1.0 x 1.0 m wooden pallet. Tubes are protected against soiling by stretch film and secured with plastic strap retainers. Longer lengths are available on request. Installation
The tube can be laid on any suitable background – system-specific insulation or commercially available insulation. The coiled tube is unrolled using a positio- ning foil on a smooth background or on textured pipe positioning panels.
Material: Positioning foil, textured pipe positioning panels
Bending
The tube can be bent effortlessly by hand. Naturally conventional bending tools or bending springs can also be used.
Tool: bending too, bending spring if required
Cutting to size, deburring, calibrating The tube is cut to size using a pipe cutter or a saw. Any burring is removed with a deburrer which at the same time is used for calibration.
Tool: Pipe cutter, deburrer
