Community Assistance & Community NLP Coordinator

Application Deadline: November 13, 2015

Minister to the homeless and community poor clients, while assisting with material needs—food, clothing, furniture, and household items. Minister to clients by providing support through the provision of spiritual, family, and living stabilization by offering management, resources, and accountability for one year.

Qualifications:

 Be a born again, mature Christian able to clearly communicate the Gospel as opportunities during the work day arise. (1 Peter 2:21 and 1 Peter 3:15).

 Have a desire to serve the Lord through widely varied responsibilities to advance ministry to those currently homeless and the urban poor of Kansas City with a compassionate heart.

 Must be able to deal tactfully and work well with people, exhibits good judgment, sensitivity, compassion, oral and written communication skills, motivational skills, and can demonstrate the ability to teach.

 Demonstrate a background of neatness, accuracy, and dependability with a high level of personal integrity.

 Have good organizational skills and the ability to keep accurate records--computer skills a must.

 Having a college education and/or work experience in a related field would be beneficial.

 Must be able to understand and adhere to policies in the CUM Staff Policy Manual.

Family Ministries: Shelter Manager

Administer the services of City Union Mission to the women and families in the Family Shelter. To be responsible to ensure the duties and responsibilities of the manager position are fulfilled on a daily basis.

Qualifications:

 Be a born again, mature Christian able to clearly communicate the Gospel as opportunities during the work day arise. (1 Peter 2:21 and 1 Peter 3:15).

 Have a desire to serve the Lord through widely varied responsibilities to advance ministry to those currently homeless and the urban poor of Kansas City with a compassionate heart.

 Exhibit a level of spiritual maturity to model Christ before clients, with knowledge of the Bible and ability to witness to others.

 Exhibit leadership, good judgment, sensitivity, compassion and good oral and written communication skills.

 Be able to give tough love where necessary. Must be able to handle stressful situations and de-escalate conflict where needed.

 Have a high school diploma or GED.

 Must have an understanding of life safety, security and emergency procedures. Must be able to understand and adhere to policies listed in the CUM Staff Policy Manual.

Operations: Cook

Application Deadline: November 13, 2015

Provide nutritious and attractive meals to shelter guests, staff and volunteers. An adequate amount of food must be prepared according to the number of people in the shelter, up to 300. Provide a friendly, warm atmosphere for shelter guests, staff and volunteers. Maintain Health Department standards for cleanliness in kitchen and dining room.

Qualifications:

 Be a born again, mature Christian able to clearly communicate the Gospel as opportunities during the work day arise. (1 Peter 2:21 and 1 Peter 3:15).

 Have a desire to serve the Lord through widely varied responsibilities to advance ministry to those currently homeless and the urban poor of Kansas City with a compassionate heart.

 Have one or more years of quantity cooking experience (preferred).

 Must be able to work well with people, clients, staff & volunteers; must have a heart for the ministry.

 Must be willing & able to supervise CLP participants, while at the same time training them for future employment.

 Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

Operations: Maintenance Project Coordinator

Assist the Planning & Projects Specialist in the maintenance and overall upkeep of the facilities and grounds assigned, as well as the projects for the facilities organization.

Qualifications:

 Have the ability to lift 75lbs and stand or walk for up to eight hours a day.

 Have a valid driver’s license and maintain insurability.

 Be proficient with Microsoft Office.

 Exhibit a desire and willingness to learn.

Development: Major Gifts Officer

Manage a portfolio of approximately 350-400 donor accounts meeting performance expectations for productivity, quality and timeliness of work.

Qualifications:

Men’s Ministries: Transitional Living Resident Case Manager

Application Deadline: November 13, 2015

Live on-site and provide case management for men in the Transitional Living Apartments: budget counseling, referrals to resources, assistance in daily living skills, etc. Job compensation is Case Manager’s own apartment in Transitional Living building.

Qualifications:

Men’s Ministries: PT Day Security Booth Staff

Application Deadline: November 13, 2015

Monitor those who enter the Men’s Center to make sure the building is secure.

Qualifications:

 Be a born again, mature Christian able to clearly communicate the Gospel as opportunities during the work day arise. (1 Peter 2:21 and 1 Peter 3:15).

 Have a desire to serve the Lord through widely varied responsibilities, to advance ministry to those currently homeless and the urban poor of Kansas City with a compassionate heart.

 Have a demonstrable background of spiritual maturity, sensitivity and compassion, as well as superb organization and communication skills.

 Must have a compassionate heart for the poor and hurting of our society.

 Exhibit good judgment, sensitivity, a demonstrable background of neatness, accuracy and dependability. Must be able to deal tactfully with the public.

 Have or agree to get a CDL license within three months of hire date to be reimbursed by CUM.

 Must be familiar with office equipment and operations and be computer literate.

 Must be able to work in a fast paced, emotionally demanding environment.

Men’s Christian Life Center: PT Overnight & Weekend Security Staff

Assure, through diligently following procedures, that the CLC is a safe place for all who are therein, that the conduct of all members is appropriate and that there is a godly and wholesome atmosphere throughout and around the facility.

Qualifications:

Family Ministries: PT Overnight Security/Hotline Staff

Application Deadline: November 13, 2015

Meet the informational needs of all callers during non-business hours, especially with ministry to homeless persons seeking shelter. Help provide a safe environment for staff clients, and guests. Monitor building activities from the security booth and function as the Shelter Manager during the overnight hours. Hours: 28

Qualifications:

 Be a born again, mature Christian able to clearly communicate the Gospel as opportunities during the work day arise. (1 Peter 2:21 and 1 Peter 3:15).

 Have a desire to serve the Lord through widely varied responsibilities, to advance ministry to those currently homeless and the urban poor of Kansas City with a compassionate heart.

Family Ministries: PT Children’s Play Therapist

Provide play therapeutic Christian-based counseling and education to the children of parents participating in the Family Center Ministry Services: Family Shelter, New Life Program, VYC and Community Assistance.

Qualifications:

 Have a Master’s degree in Christian Counseling with emphasis in Play Therapy; preferably pursuing certification in Play Therapy

Family Ministries: On-Call Shelter Manager

Evening: Insure orderly procedure in all areas of the shelter ministry (dayroom, chapel/dining room, dorm areas, and

outside of the building). Insure orderliness among the men on the Christian Life Program and their activities.

Overnight: Monitor the facilities and the men, insuring that the property is safe and secure, insuring that the men are

cared for adequately, and insuring that the policies and procedures of City Union Mission are consistently applied.

Qualifications:

 Be a born again, mature Christian able to clearly communicate the Gospel as opportunities during the work day arise. (1 Peter 2:21 and 1 Peter 3:15)

 Have a desire to serve the Lord through widely varied responsibilities to advance ministry to those currently homeless and the urban poor of Kansas City with a compassionate heart.

 Preferably be a minister, but will consider others.

 Have the ability to follow procedures and guidelines and experience in some form of supervision.

 Have, or agree to get, a CDL license within three months of hire date, to be reimbursed by City Union Mission.

 Have knowledge of drug and alcohol abuse (preferred). Have experience in drug and alcohol counseling and Biblical counseling.

 Have a strong Biblical foundation and be equipped to share the Gospel at any point with guests.

 Have an ability to enforce all policies firmly and compassionately.

 Have basic computer skills.
