Dear Friends in Christ,
Did you know that we are in the midst of a Year of St. Joseph? Like many in our Church, I was surprised and overjoyed when Pope Francis declared a Year of St. Joseph which began on December 8, 2020. Like previous years of Faith or St. Paul, these year-long designations and celebrations allow us all to focus more closely on a particular aspect of our Faith. What better aspect or person than the foster father of Jesus?
For us at St. Ann and St. Joseph, this year is also significant because it celebrates one of our patron Saints. What a wonderful opportunity for us all to grow in holiness by learning from the example of St. Joseph and asking for his intercession. While the announcement came as a surprise, we have been working hard to ensure that we can fully take advantage of this year-long celebration.
Work is underway now for some special additions we will be making to the St. Joseph shrine for this year. We are excited that we will be offering Fr. Donald Calloway’s Consecration to St. Joseph as a way to learn more about and grow closer to St. Joseph—see the bulletin for more information. We look forward to another year of our popular Novena to St. Joseph, with the production of a special prayer book and opportunity to remember our deceased loved ones. Planning is also underway for a special feast day celebration on March 19—
stay tuned for more information as the date approaches. And we are thrilled to be participating with the Diocese of Toledo in its efforts to celebrate the Year of St. Joseph. More will be done, but we think this is a great start to this year-long celebration.
I invite you to join me in taking advantage of this year to discover St. Joseph, the wonderful example of Faith that he is, and the powerful intercessor he continues to be. May he continue to draw us closer to Our Lord Jesus Christ and protect us each day!
Sincerely Yours in Christ, Fr. Michael Roemmele Pastor

Whenever a county/city within the Diocese of Toledo
is placed under a Level 3 Snow Emergency, during
which all roadways are closed to non-emergency
personnel, the Catholic Churches within that
geographic region will cancel the scheduled
Saturday Vigil, Sunday, or Holy Day Masses. IF
Masses are cancelled, Catholics are encouraged to
participate in Holy Mass via television, radio, or
internet, making Spiritual Communion. When Mass
is cancelled, all other diocesan, parish, or school
events in that geographic region are also cancelled.
Please also note that if Sandusky County is under a
Level 2 Snow Emergency, any weekday Adoration
will be cancelled and there is a chance that the

This week’s feature is a wonderful
staple in our Catholic community
who often flies under the radar -
Anna Wyss-Zilles! She has been a
member of our Church Family for a
little over 15 years and we are so
happy to have her. She is
passionate about her faith and you
can often find her at Daily Mass.
Her most active ministry is working
as a Sacristan, which means she plays a key role
in setting up for Mass on a regular basis. Often
going unseen, Anna does a very important job in
the behind the scenes of our Church! She also
volunteers her time and talents to help plan and
execute our Tri-Parish Mission. Again, this is
an-other unseen but very important ministry. Anna is
also a member of the Confraternity of the Blessed
Sacrament, a world-wide group that is dedicated
to prayers for their communities and for the
spreading of Eucharistic Adoration. Thank you,
Anna for the many ways you support and love our
parish family. We are so grateful for you!
Who do you take your troubles to? Jesus' disciples freely brought their troubles to Him because
they found Him ready and able to deal with any difficulty, affliction, or sickness which they
encountered. When Simon brought Jesus to his home, his mother-in-law was instantly healed
because Jesus heard Simon's prayer. Jerome, an early church bible scholar and translator, reflects
on this passage:
"Can you imagine Jesus standing before your bed and you continue sleeping? It is
absurd that you would remain in bed in His presence. Where is Jesus? He is already
here offering himself to us. 'In the middle,' He says, 'among you he stands, whom you do
not recognize' (Cf. John 1:26) 'The kingdom of God is in your midst' (Mark 1:15). Faith
beholds Jesus among us. If we are unable to seize His hand, let us prostrate ourselves
at his feet. If we are unable to reach his head, let us wash His feet with our tears. Our
repentance is the perfume of the Savior. See how costly is the compassion of the
Savior."
Do you allow Jesus to be the Lord and healer in your personal life, family, and community?
Approach the Lord with expectant faith. God's healing power restores us not only to health but to
active service and care of others. There is no trouble He does not want to help us with and there is
no bondage He can't set us free from. Do you take your troubles to Him with expectant faith that He
will help you?
