The Executive M.B.A. Program in North America is housed in the University of Chicago Gleacher Center, which is located between the Equitable Building and NBC Tower, just east of Michigan Avenue and Tribune Tower, on the north bank of the Chicago River at 450 North Cityfront Plaza Drive, Chicago, Illinois 60611.

Gleacher Center is also home to the Graduate School of Business Evening and Weekend Programs as well as the nondegree Executive Education Programs office.

The Gleacher Center also houses several university offices and facilities, including Graham School of General Studies, University Investment Office, a branch of the University Bookstore, and a business center.

Guidelines for Building Use

Building Hours

Hours: 7 a.m.–10:45 p.m. Monday–Friday

7 a.m.–6:45 p.m. Saturday

The building is closed Sundays and holidays. Hours may vary between terms.

Protocol

Gleacher Center is also the Conference Center, housing all types of university and nonuniversity events. Many corporations hold workshops or seminars for their staff in Gleacher Center. While it is assumed that all Chicago GSB students will demonstrate professional behavior and good judgment at all times, we do want to take this oppor-tunity to remind you of business protocol. Please do not help yourself to beverages or food set up for other users. Please do not study in areas that have been reserved for a specific group. The sixth floor is a conference center floor and is not available as a study space. Please do not approach or distribute copies of your resume to participants of corporate workshops or other such events.

Smoking Policy

Smoking is prohibited in the building.

Office to Advance Career and Corporate Alliances (OACCA) (Third Floor, Suite 340)

OACCA expands the quality and depth of lifelong partner-ships among the GSB’s diverse audience of part-time stu-dents, alumni, corporations, faculty, and staff. This life-time connection is designed to promote excellence in scholarship, career advancement, and success. Workshops, seminars, individual career coaching, self-assessment

tests, publications, and databases are some of the services offered by OACCA.

Graham School of General Studies (Concourse Level)

The University’s Graham School of General Studies offers three types of programs: Professional Education, with seminars for executives and organizations; Higher Education, for faculty members from colleges and univer-sities; and Liberal Education, with noncredit courses in various fields and credit status for adults as graduate stu-dents-at-large (GSAL). Instructors are drawn primarily from the university academic community, and the major-ity of students are postcollegiate adults. For more infor-mation, stop in at the Gleacher Center office, Room 032, or call 312.464.8655. Information may also be obtained by calling the campus office at 773.702.1722.

Conference Center

Housed in Gleacher Center is the GSB Conference Center, offering over 50,000 square feet of flexible conference space spanning six floors, with dedicated conference space on the sixth floor. Facilities include thirteen interactive amphitheaters; two boardrooms; six reception lounges; four executive meeting rooms; sixteen breakout/ seminar rooms; computer training room; auditorium/ film screening room; and dining space. The Conference Center also provides catering, audiovisual, and business services.

The following services for Evening and Weekend M.B.A. students are handled by the Transaction Desk: tuition payment via credit card; miscellaneous forms drop-off; and pick-up of all forms (e.g., graduation packets, Pass/ Fail requests, Incomplete forms, etc.). The parking stamp validation machine is located on the counter outside the Transaction Desk.

Admissions and recruiting offices for the Evening and Weekend M.B.A. Programs are located in Suite 330 on the third floor. Office hours are 8:30 a.m.–6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Call 312.464.8700 for more information.

Executive M.B.A. Program (Third Floor, Suite 340)

Executive M.B.A. Program students meet all day on Fridays and Saturdays. During this time, the third-floor north lounge is reserved exclusively for the use of the Executive M.B.A. Program. Even though the lounge may be empty during certain times of the day on Fridays and Saturdays, non-Executive M.B.A. Program students should refrain from using the lounge during this reserved time.

Services Offered

Bookstore (Lobby Level)

The University of Chicago Gleacher Center Bookstore is a branch of the Campus Bookstore, with an emphasis on business and economic references and materials. The store is open to the general public, as well as to students, faculty, and staff. The bookstore carries textbooks and other class materials, general books, newspapers, maga-zines, office supplies, and gift items such as sweatshirts,

Bookstore hours will be extended during peak times.

Business Center (Concourse Level, Room 11)

The Business Center is operated by the University’s Printing Services Department. Its services include full-service copying, full-color copies, laminating, fax ser-vices, slide reproduction, and secretarial services. For more information, call 312.464.8780.

Computer Lab (Lobby Level)

The Computer Lab is equipped with PCs and printers. Any program accessed on the Hyde Park campus may be accessed from Gleacher Center Computer Lab. For lab hours, visit the Computing Services Web site at www.gsb.uchicago.edu/comp_svcs/labs/schedule.

Copy Machines

Copy machines are located in the library, second- and third-floor south lounges, and on the Concourse Level. The machines are coin-operated. They also accept copy cards, which may be purchased at the card machine in the library.

Kenneth G. Fisher Library (Lobby Level)

The Kenneth G. Fisher Library’s Career Management Collection is designed to provide career related resources to all members of the GSB community. It also serves as a complement to the resources at the Career Services Library on campus. The resources address various career issues, such as self-assessment, career management and job search strategies. Many materials provide function- or industry-specific information and firm listings. Business and career periodicals also are available in the library.

Food Service

Cityfront Cafe (second floor, north lounge)

Serving sandwiches, salads, mini pizzas, muffins, bagels, beverages, etc.

8 a.m.–3 p.m. Saturday

Lockers

Airport style luggage lockers are located on the lobby level. The lockers are intended for the storage of personal belongings while students are in class. Items remaining in lockers at the end of the day will be removed and discarded.

Lounges

Student lounges are located at the north and south ends of the corridor on floors two through four for quiet individual study.

Reserved Course Material (Transaction Desk, Lobby Level)

Course materials put on reserve by faculty for classes taught during the current quarter are available for checkout at the Fisher Library.

Restrooms

Men’s restrooms are on the south side of the elevator lob-bies; women’s restrooms are to the north on the second, third, and fourth floors and the concourse.

Security Desk (Lobby Level)

The staffed Security Desk is located in the main lobby at the base of the staircase. Dial 312.464.8777 for assistance. Security is available during the building hours of 7 a.m. to 10:45 p.m. Monday through Friday; 7 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. Saturday.

Study Group Rooms

There are twelve group study rooms throughout the build-ing (three on the concourse level; three in the library on the lobby level; two on the second floor; two on the third floor; and two on the fourth floor) for use by registered Graduate School of Business M.B.A. students only. The study group rooms are intended for group study only. Individual study should take place in the computer lab, library, or lounges.

The GSB reserves the right to restrict the use of study group rooms at certain times to certain groups.

Rules On Usage

1. Only registered GSB M.B.A. degree students are authorized to use the study group rooms.

2. Group study rooms are available on a come, first-served basis; rooms may not be refirst-served in advance by individual users.

3. During times of high demand, a waitlist will be kept. A group signing the waitlist for the next available room must check in regularly with the security desk to claim the room or their reservation will be given to the next student/group on the list.

4. Rooms may be occupied for a period of three hours, after which a student/group may continue to use a study room if there is no demand. When demand exceeds supply, the security desk will keep a waitlist and will inform the student/group(s) who have exceeded the three-hour limit that they must relin-quish the room. If a student/group refuses to leave the

room, a director in the Executive M.B.A. Program office will be notified to enforce the policy.

5. Rooms are accessible for student use Monday through Saturday from building opening until one-half hour before the building’s published closing time. 6. No eating or drinking is permitted in the study rooms.

Key Checkout Procedures

To receive a room key, the student/group must: 1. Complete the log sheet at the security desk and leave

their UCID card. If a student does not have a UCID card, the security desk will call the program office to confirm the student’s status.

2. If the room key is not returned or any other abuse of privileges takes place, building security will record the student’s name on a violation log and notify the pro-gram office. The matter will then be handled accord-ingly. Repeat offenders may lose study room privileges for up to two quarters.
