Vanguard-Sentinel Career & Technology
Centers (VSCTC) is an award-winning
career-technical school district that
provides high school students with specific,
marketable skills to begin a career, pursue
further training or attend college. We focus
on continuous improvement in all aspects of
our work so that we may become a center of
educational excellence.
We are committed to providing a challenging
curriculum, skilled instruction and a learning
environment that fosters individual student
success. Our work is guided by the belief
that every student is capable of attaining
high levels of educational achievement in
preparation for meeting the rigorous
demands of the 21st century.
Two Campuses
VSCTC has two campuses: The Vanguard
Tech Center in Fremont and Sentinel Career
& Technology Center in Tiffin. Our two
campuses serve high school students from
the following school districts: Clyde, Fremont
Ross, Fremont St. Joseph, Fostoria, Fostoria
St. Wendelin, Gibsonburg,
Hopewell-Loudon, Lakota, Mohawk, New Riegel,
Old Fort, Port Clinton, Seneca East, Tiffin
Calvert, Tiffin Columbian, and Upper
Sandusky, along with Bridges Community
Academy and North Central Academy in
Tiffin, Townsend in Clyde, Electronic
Classroom of Tomorrow (ECOT), and
Ohio Virtual Academy.

Achievement – for those who
maintain a grade average of “C” or
better and a 93% or better attendance

students who receive a passing grade
and maintain a 90% attendance

Entrance Requirements
Students who apply to attend
Vanguard-Sentinel Career & Technology Centers
must be on track to graduate with their
graduating class. VSCTC students who
choose one of our College Ready programs,
or who utilize College Credit Plus, must
successfully meet the entrance requirements
of the college or university in which they
are applying.

training in multiple programs through a
unique “hands-on” approach to education.

that Career-Technical Education in Ohio
aids College and Career Readiness by:

College Credits
Most programs at Vanguard-Sentinel
Career & Technology Centers have been
approved by the state for Career-Technical
Credit Transfer (CT)². Students who
complete a program that is (CT)² approved
are guaranteed transferable credits to any of
Ohio's public colleges and universities. The
number of credits that are transferable varies
for each program, but (CT)² approval gives
individuals a head start at any public college
or university in the state. (CT)² saves students
time and money.
College Credit Plus is an integral component
to several VSCTC programs. College
classes are embedded in the curriculum of
these programs, allowing students to earn
transcripted college credits along with the high
school credits they receive by completing their
VSCTC program. VSCTC programs with the
College Credit Plus component are marked
accordingly in this brochure.
Academics
Students at the Sentinel Career &
Technology Center campus in Tiffin attend
Sentinel for a half-day to receive their
career-technical training. They return to
their partner schools the other half-day for
academic classes. Vanguard Tech Center
students in Fremont are given the option
of attending Vanguard for a full day to
receive both career-technical training and
academics. Or, they may choose to attend
Vanguard for only their career-technical
training and return to their partner schools
for academics.
Student Activities
Students are encouraged to participate in
the social and learning opportunities
offered through membership in Career
and Technical Student Organizations.
At Sentinel, students can choose from:
Educators Rising, FFA and SkillsUSA.
Vanguard Tech Center students can choose
