PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO RIGHTS

The Organisers would like to bring the regulation on photography and filming to the attention of exhibitors, trade stands, press and visitors.

It is a condition of all those attending the event that no filming or other form of recording may be taken or made at the venue without the express written permission of the organisers. The taking of photographs in the show venue for sale or reward is strictly prohibited except with the written permission of the Organisers. Press accredited photographers are provided with permission to take photographs ONLY for use in newspapers, magazines and internet sites - this is for news purposes only. There is no objection to the general public taking photographs of general views of the Show, provided that these are for private use. Specific dogs may be photographed only with the approval of the exhibitor. No photography or filming is permitted in breed judging rings whilst judging is actually taking place. However, judges may allow it to happen at the end of classes or after the Challenge Certificate is awarded. Filming and flash photography is allowed from outside the rings at all times unless the operation of the camera is actually affecting exhibits. However, if a powerful flash unit is used or if it is clear that exhibits are being affected, a ring steward or the judge is empowered to stop the person concerned.

DEFINITIONS OF CLASSES

The word DOG includes both sexes

PUPPIES UNDER SIX CALENDAR MONTHS OF AGE ON THE DAY OF THE SHOW ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR EXHIBITION In the following definitions, a Challenge Certificate includes any Show Award that counts towards the title of Champion under the rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club.

Wins at Championship Shows in Breed Classes where Challenge Certificates were not on offer shall be counted as wins at Open Shows. In the case of a dog owned in partnership and entered in Members classes or competing for Members specials each partner must at the time of entry be a member of the Society.

In estimating the number of awards won, all wins up to and including the seventh day before the date of closing of Postal entries shall be counted when entering for any class (i.e. Monday 1st February, 2016).

Wins in Variety Classes do not count for entry in Breed Classes but when entering for Variety Classes, wins in both breed and variety classes must be counted. A First Prize does not include a Special Prize of whatever value.

A dog is not eligible for entry in Variety Classes unless also entered and subsequently exhibited in a Breed Class where such a class is provided for which it is eligible. Exemptions from this Regulation are:

From 1st January 2015, and for a period of two years the Kennel Club Show Regulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class have been suspended.

(a) A Puppy, unless a class for dogs under 12 months of age for which it is eligible is provided for the Breed (b) A dog in Any Variety Veteran Class

(c) A dog in Any Variety Champion Class

(d) A dog which is withdrawn from exhibition in breed classes as a result of the appointment of an emergency judge. (e) A dog in YKC Stakes Classes.

(f) A dog in Good Citizen Scheme Classes. (g) Exhibits bred by the scheduled breed Judge.

If an exhibitor reports before the judging of a class or classes that a dog has been entered which is ineligible, the exhibitor may choose one of the following options:

(1) Withdrawal

The dog may be withdrawn from competition subject to the conditions of Regulations 9(j) and 20. (2) Transfer

(a) If a dog is ineligible for a class or classes as regards its breed, colour, sex, weight or height, the Show Secretary shall transfer it to the equivalent class or classes for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height or, in the event of there being no equivalent class, Minor Puppy and Puppy excepted to the Open class for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height. (b) For an exhibit entered incorrectly in a Minor Puppy, Puppy or Junior class, which is over age but under 12 calendar months of

age, 18 calendar months of age or 24 calendar months of age respectively, the Show Secretary shall transfer the exhibit to the Puppy, Junior or Yearling class respectively of the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height and in the event of there being no Puppy, Junior or Yearling class, to the Open class for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height.

(c) For any reason other than the above, the Show Secretary shall transfer it to the Open class for the correct breed, colour, sex, weight or height.

(d) If an exhibit arrives late and misses a class, even if it is the only class in which the dog is entered, the dog may not be transferred to any other class.

Minor Puppy—For dogs of six and not exceeding nine calendar months of age on the first day of the Show. Puppy—For dogs of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the Show. Junior—For dogs of six and not exceeding eighteen calendar months of age on the first day of the Show.

Maiden—For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or a First Prize at an Open or Championship Show (Minor Puppy,

Puppy, Special Minor Puppy, Puppy and Special Puppy Classes excepted), whether restricted or not.

Graduate—For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or four or more First Prizes at Championship Shows in Graduate,

Post Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open Classes whether restricted or not, where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed.

Post Graduate—For dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or five or more First Prizes at Championship Shows in Post

Graduate, Minor Limit, Mid Limit, Limit and Open Classes whether restricted or not, where Challenge Certificates were offered for the breed.

Mid Limit—For dogs which have not become Show Champions under Kennel Club Regulations or under the rules of any governing

body recognised by the Kennel Club or won five or more First Prizes in all at Championship Shows in Mid Limit, Limit or Open Classes, confined to the breed, whether restricted or not, at shows where Challenge Certificates were offered for the Breed.

Limit—For dogs which have not become Show Champions under Kennel Club Regulations or under the rules of any governing body

recognised by the Kennel Club or won seven or more First Prizes in all, at Championship Shows in Limit or Open Classes, confined to the Breed, whether restricted or not, at Shows where Challenge Certificates were offered for the Breed.

YKC Stakes—ll pedigree dogs are eligible to take part provided the dog is registered on the Kennel Club breed register. The dog must

be registered a) solely or jointly in the member’s name or b) in the name of a member of the family and under these circumstances the dog must be resident at the YKC member’s address. No substitute handlers are permitted — the dog must be handled by the YKC member. Members are not permitted to allow another individual to show their dog on their behalf if they are not able to attend the class. Members must be aged 6 - 24 years (for members 6 years and up to, but not including 25th birthday). Please note that membership of the YKC terminates on a member’s 25th birthday. Please note that the YKC office will only accept wins from classes that are listed on the YKC website. If a show schedules a YKC class which has not been approved by the YKC Management Team and published on the website, it will not qualify for Crufts. Please note that in order to enter any YKC Crufts qualifying competition you must be a fully paid up member at the time of entry. If you enter a Crufts qualifier and you have not previously paid your membership fee then any award will not count towards qualification for Crufts. Therefore it is important to renew and maintain YKC membership as current if you wish to participate in qualifying Crufts competitions. Crufts 2017

Qualification Procedure: The first placed member only in each dog group at the qualifying show will qualify for Crufts. A rosette

and prize money is awarded. If the first placed member has already qualified, the Crufts qualification will roll down to the next member (down to 3rd place only).

CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW REGULATIONS

EXHIBITORS’ ATTENTION IS PARTICULARLY DRAWN TO REGULATION 24. VICIOUS DOGS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE AND MUST NOT BE BROUGHT TO THE SHOW.

Exhibitors are held responsible for any damage done by their dog during the exhibition. 1. The Show will open at 7.30 a.m.

2. Dogs will be received at any time but it is the exhibitor’s responsibility to ensure that exhibits are available for judging when required.

3. Judging will commence at 9.00 a.m. prompt in all rings unless indicated otherwise on the proposed judging order on page 9. Exhibitors will be responsible for their dogs being in time for judging.

4. Exhibits may be removed from the show after their judging has been completed. Exhibits may not be removed any earlier unless by written order of the Veterinary Surgeon, Veterinary Practitioner or of the Show Management and then only in very exceptional and unforeseen circumstances which must be reported to the Kennel Club. The show will close half an hour after judging has been completed by which time dogs must be removed. 5. The use of cooking stoves in the proximity of tenting and benching areas is forbidden except as authorised by the

Show Management. 6. Entry Fees.

Breeds with Challenge Certificates. First Class £24.00, second and subsequent classes £3.00. Non-CC Breeds (Australian Silky Terriers, Bolognese and Coton de Tulear): First Class £14.00, second and subsequent classes £3.00. Not For Competition £10.00. Veteran and Champion Stakes: If entered in Breed Class £3.00; If NOT entered in Breed Class £14.00. Entries may be made online at www.dog.biz.

7. Prize Money will not be paid, except in Stakes Classes which are as stated. 8. The Committee reserves to itself the right to refuse entries.

9. Puppies under six calendar months of age on the day of the Show are not eligible for exhibition. 10. The mating of bitches within the precincts of the Show is strictly forbidden.

11. Best Puppy in Show: From 1st January 2015, and for a period of two years the Kennel Club Show Regulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible to compete in the group or best in competitions are suspended. (Please refer to the FAQs on the Kennel Club Website for further information). Where a Best Puppy in Show competition is scheduled the Best Puppy in Show is a puppy which has competed and is unbeaten by any other puppy exhibited at the same Show. A puppy is a dog of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the Show. Where the Best of Breed, Best of Group or Best in Show is a puppy it should automatically be awarded Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show respectively. Similarly, if the Reserve Best of Breed, Reserve Best in Group or Reserve Best in Show is a puppy which has only been beaten by an adult dog it should also automatically be Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Group or Best Puppy in Show respectively. Consequently, selection of Best Puppy in Breed, Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show must follow the selection of Best of Breed and Best in Show respectively.

a. Championship Shows Judged on the Group System. (Definition: Shows judged on Group System – refer to Regulation 27.b)

(1) Best Puppy in Breed. A Best Puppy must be declared in each breed from puppies entered in the breed classes.

(2) Best Puppy in Group. From 1st January 2015, and for a period of two years the Kennel Club Show Regulations which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible to compete in the group or best in competitions are suspended. (Please refer to the FAQs on the Kennel Club Website for further information). Best Puppy in Group and subsequent Group placings must be selected from:

(a) Those puppies declared Best Puppy in Breed provided that they are unbeaten by any other puppy. (b) The puppy declared Best Puppy from the Any Variety Not Separately Classified classes in each

group or on each day provided it is unbeaten by any other puppy.

(3) Best Puppy in Show must be selected from the Best Puppy in Group winners provided they are unbeaten by any other puppy.

b. Withdrawal from Competition. Puppies which become eligible for Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show may be withdrawn from all other competition, other than breed classes and Best Puppy in Breed, prior to the competition for Best Puppy in Group and Best Puppy in Show as appropriate, in order to remain unbeaten. A puppy beaten in competition for Best Puppy in Group or Best Puppy in Show may subsequently be exhibited in all competition for which it was previously eligible. The dog declared Best Puppy in Show, however, must not compete in any subsequent competition. Puppies may be withdrawn from Any Variety classes when judged before Breed classes.

c. Proviso. For the purpose of this Regulation, dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny, Brace and Team or a Special Award confined to one breed will not be considered to be a beaten dog. 12. Best in Show: From 1st January 2015, and for a period of two years the Kennel Club Show Regulations

which stipulate that dogs must be entered and exhibited in a breed class before exhibiting in an Any Variety Class/Stakes Class and that only unbeaten dogs are eligible to compete in the group or best in competitions are suspended. (Please refer to the FAQs on the Kennel Club Website for further information). The dog declared Best in Show is a dog which has competed and is unbeaten by any other dog exhibited at the same Show. Definition of a Category 3 Breed. A breed from time to time designated by the General Committee as requiring particular monitoring by reason of visible condition(s) which may cause health or welfare concerns. The list of designated Category 3 Breeds is kept under regular review.

(8)

a. Shows Judged on the Group System. (Definition: Shows judged on the Group system include classes for breeds within more than one Group, as defined in Kennel Club Regulation B(A); and requires a judge to declare a Best of each Group after which the exhibits so declared will compete for the award of Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show).

(1) Best of Breed. Where a breed is separately classified a Best of Breed may be declared but only from those dogs which have received a first prize in a breed class at the show. Where separate classes are provided for each sex of a breed a Best of each Sex must be declared. NOTE: The Best of Breed/Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified award relevant to a Category 3 Breed will not be confirmed until the dog has passed an examination by the General and Group Championship Show Veterinary Surgeon.

(2) Best of Group. Best of Group and subsequent group placings must be selected from:

(a) The Best of Breed winners in each Group provided that they are unbeaten winning dogs. (b) The best unbeaten winning dog from the Any Variety Not Separately Classified classes in each

Group or on each day.

NOTE: The dog declared Best of Breed/Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified from a breed designated by the Kennel Club as a Category 3 Breed is not eligible to compete in the Group competition unless it has passed an examination by the Show’s Veterinary Surgeon. If the dog fails to pass the examination it is ineligible to compete in the relevant Group.

(3) Best in Show. Best in Show must be selected from the Best of Group winners provided they are unbeaten. Reserve Best in Show must be selected from the remaining Group winners following the selection of Best in Show.

b. Withdrawal from Other Competition. Dogs which become eligible for Best of Group and Best in Show may be withdrawn from all other competition (other than Breed Classes and Best of Breed) prior to the competition for Best of Group or Best in Show as appropriate in order to remain unbeaten. A dog beaten in competition for Best of Group or Best in Show may subsequently be exhibited in all competition for which it was previously eligible. The dogs declared Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show however, must not compete in any subsequent competition. Dogs may be withdrawn from Any Variety Classes when judged before Breed Classes.

c. Proviso. For the purposes of this Regulation dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny, Brace and Team or a Special Award confined to a single breed, will not be considered to be beaten dogs.

13. Exhibits will not be admitted to Group or Best in Show competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsed since the announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have been unavoidably delayed by previous judging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permission of the Show Management. 14. Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them. This is not acceptable. Exhibitors

should note that such practice would constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11.

15. All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) — Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition.

16. All dogs resident outside the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor.

17. DOGS IN VEHICLES ON HOT DAYS. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at Kennel Club licensed events.

When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams.

If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all.

The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink.

Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog.

When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle.

Keep the dog in the shade — take your own shade, for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated.

Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time.

Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog’s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK, FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Limited Rules and Regulations. Exhibitors/

(9)

Competitors are reminded that show societies have the right under Kennel Club Regulation to refuse any entry.

18. Not For Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered.

19. No modifications will be made to this Schedule except by permission of the General Committee of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible.

20. All entries must be made on or before Monday, 8th February, 2016 upon forms enclosed for that purpose. All monies must be sent at the time of making entries and cheques and postal orders must be made payable to The United Kingdom Toydog Society.

21. No dog may be removed from its bench except for the purpose of being exercised, prepared for the Show Ring, Judged, or by order of the Veterinary Surgeon or Show Committee.

22. An exercise area will be provided at the Show and Exhibitors and handlers are requested to clear up any fouling made by the dog(s) in their charge. Special Bins will be provided.

23. If a dog is not on its bench when required for judging the Committee will not be responsible for exhibitors missing their classes.

24. Conversation is not allowed in the Judging Ring between Exhibitors and Judges.

25. Gangways must be kept clear of obstructions, and Officers of the Society are empowered to see any such obstruction is removed.

26. Should any question arise not provided for in these regulations the decision of the Committee shall be final, subject to appeal to the Kennel Club.

Signed for and on behalf of the Committee TOM MATHER (Show Secretary)

Members are not permitted to allow another individual to show their dog on their behalf if they are not able to attend the class.

Members must be aged 6--24 years (for members 6 years and up to, but not including 25th birthday). Crufts 2017 Qualification procedure: The first placed member only in each group at the qualifying show will qualify for Crufts. A rosette and prize money is awarded. If the first placed member has already qualified, the Crufts qualification will roll down to the next member (down to third place only).

Prize money: First £5.00 Second £3.00 Third £2.00

YKC MEMBERS JUNIOR HANDLING

Judge Carl Sparrow

Class 356 AV Special Open Toydog - Handler 6-11 years

(for members of 6 years and up to, but not including 12th birthday)

Class 357 AV Special Open Toydog - Handler 12-16 years

(for members of 12 years and up to, but not including 17th birthday)

Class 358 AV Special Open Toydog - Handler 17-24 years

(for members of 17 years and up to, but not including 25th birthday)

Only dogs of six (6) calendar months of age and over on the day of competition are eligible for entry into a YKC qualifying class. Dogs must be entered into a breed class to participate in a YKC Handling class at a championship or open show. The FIRST placed handler only in each age group at the qualifying show will qualify for Crufts. A rosette is awarded to the first place winner. This is not a roll down competition. Handling qualfiers run from the 1st January to the 31st December for the following year’s Crufts. If a member is disqualified, the qualification does not roll down to the next placing. Classes for handling are decided by the handler’s age. The classes are divided into three age groups: 6-11 years (6 years and up to, but not including 12th birthday). 12-16 years (12 years and up to, but not including 17th birthday). 17-24 years (17 years and up to, but not including 25th birthday). In order to enter any YKC competition, you must be a fully paid up member at the time of entry and competition. If you enter a Crufts qualifier and you have not previously paid your membership fee then any award will be forfeited. Therefore it is important to renew and maintain YKC membership as current if you wish to participate in YKC competitions.

Prize money in each class: First £5.00 Second £3.00 Third £2.00

10. Where dogs are entered solely in classes with a full running order they will be received at any time. It is the exhibitors’ responsibility to ensure that exhibits are available for judging when required.

The circumstances of such a removal shall be recorded in the show Incident Book and submitted to the Kennel Club.

15. Dogs will be disqualified if proved to have been handled in the class by the scheduled Judge’s spouse or immediate family, or resident at the same address as the scheduled Judge.

16. No person shall carry out punitive correction or harsh handling of a dog at any time within the boundaries of the Show.

17. No competitor shall impugn the decision of the Judge or Judges.

18. Should a judge be unable to fulfil the appointment to judge the Committee reserves the right to appoint another judge.

19. Should circumstances so dictate the Society, in consultation with the judges, may alter arrangements as necessary. Such changes and the circumstances surrounding them will be reported to the Kennel Club. 20. There is no prize money on offer.

21. DOGS IN VEHICLES ON HOT DAYS

Your dog is vulnerable and AT RISK if left in a vehicle in high temperatures and even on days considered as slightly warm. Please take care of your dog. If your dog is found to be at risk forcible entry to your vehicle may be necessary without liability for any damage caused.

22. Welfare of Dogs. A competitor whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not knowingly put their dogs’ health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. A breach of this Regulation may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Limited Rules and Regulations.
