Dear Visitor:

On behalf of our entire athletic staff and university community, welcome to the campus of the University of North Georgia. We hope your stay in Dahlonega is pleasant and please do not hesitate to contact us if there is anything we can do to better accommodate your team.

In this packet, you will find information regarding the city of Dahlonega, UNG, and more

specifically, our upcoming contest with your team. The material provided is to familiarize you and your team with the various attributes and operational conditions associated with a UNG athletic event.

Please contact the appropriate staff member with any questions and/or comments you may have. The UNG Athletic Department is committed to ensuring a high standard of athletic excellence for all home events so we hope you find the subject matter useful and informative. In preparation for your visit, please take a few moments to review these documents and share with appropriate personnel.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS & VISITING TEAM PARKING

Reference attached campus map for building and parking lot numbers

Baseball (Bob Stein Stadium) & Softball (Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium)

From Gainesville: Take US 129 north to GA 60 north. When you enter Dahlonega. Turn left at the first stoplight onto Morrison Moore Parkway. Continue on the bypass to next stoplight. Turn left onto Barlow Road and the field is on the left.

From Atlanta: Take GA 400 north toward Dahlonega until it ends at GA 60/19 S. Turn left on GA 60/US 19 and head north into the city of Dahlonega. Turn left at the first stoplight onto Morrison Moore Parkway. Continue on the bypass to next stoplight. Turn left onto Barlow Road and the field is on the left.

Visiting Team Parking: After entering the UNG Athletic Complex Baseball/Softball entrance (Barlow Road) off of Morrison Moore Parkway, buses are encouraged to drop teams and equipment at the field entrance gate. Following drop off, buses will be ushered to park in the parking lot at the top of the hill after turning right out of the complex entrance. The parking is Lot #62 and has a recycling station at in the lot corner. A member of the UNG Athletics event staff will bring a golf cart to pick up the driver.

Men’s & Women’s Basketball – Memorial Hall – Building #11

From Gainesville: Take US 129 north to GA 60 north. When you enter Dahlonega cross over Morrison Moore Parkway and the entrance to campus will be on the left. Upon entering campus, Memorial Hall is the first building on the right.

From Atlanta: Take GA 400 north toward Dahlonega until it ends at GA 60/19 S. Turn left on GA 60/US 19 and head north toward Dahlonega. When you enter Dahlonega cross over Morrison Moore Parkway and the entrance to campus will be on the left. Upon entering campus, Memorial Hall is the first building on the right.

Visiting Team Parking: After entering campus at the Welcome Center on the attached campus map, buses are encouraged to drop off teams and equipment directly in front of Memorial Hall (Building #11). A member of the UNG Athletics event staff will assist the bus with parking in one of the four charter bus spots located in front of the Student Center South building (Building #10) across from Memorial Hall.

Men’s & Women’s Soccer – UNG Soccer Complex

From Gainesville: Take US 129 north to GA 60 north. When you enter Dahlonega. Turn left at the first stoplight onto Morrison Moore Parkway and the complex will be down on the left.

Men’s & Women’s Tennis – UNG Tennis Complex @ Yahoola Creek Park

From Atlanta: Take GA 400 north toward Dahlonega until it ends at GA 60/19 S. Turn left on GA 60/US 19 and head north into the city of Dahlonega. Turn right at the first stoplight onto Morrison Moore Parkway and go 200 yards and take a right onto Mechanicsville Road (Appalachian community bank on right corner). Follow Mechanicsville Road until you enter

TICKETS

Tickets for athletic events during the 2014-2015 season can be purchased on game day for soccer (M/W), basketball (M/W), baseball and softball home events.

Ticket prices are $6 for adults and $4 for students (ages 7-18).

Admission is free for the following: UNG students/faculty/staff, all children ages six (6) and under, all Nighthawk Athletic Club members and the athletic administration of the visiting team. As per Peach Belt Conference rules, basketball (men and women) is the only sport that sponsors a visiting team pass list policy. Home team is allowed four passes per staff/player and visiting team is allowed two passes per staff/player. The PBC pass list is only for Peach Belt games and anyone receiving a complimentary ticket must show proof of ID at ticket gate.

PROHIBITED BEHAVIOR

Examples of prohibited behavior include, but are not limited to: throwing objects of any kind; demonstrating unruly behavior; attempting to enter the field of play; engaging in behavior that endangers the safety of student athletes, coaches, officials, or other guests; taunting event staff, visiting teams and/or public safety officials. Consequences for guests exhibiting prohibited behavior may include, but are not limited to loss of ticket buying privileges, ejection from the facility, and/or arrest. The University reserves the right to enforce, within the sole discretion of the

University prohibited behaviors based on the interests of public safety, operational or staffing considerations or any other considerations.

SPORTSMANSHIP STATEMENT

The University of North Georgia, the Peach Belt Conference and the NCAA promote good sportsmanship by student-athletes, coaches and spectators. We request your cooperation by supporting the participants and officials in a positive manner. Profanity, racial or sexist comments or other intimidating words or actions directed at officials, student-athletes, coaches or team representatives will not be tolerated and are grounds for removal from the site of competition.

PET POLICY

Pets of any kind, excluding service dogs, are not allowed at any of the University of North Georgia athletic facilities.

POST-GAME SHOWERS

Teams wishing to take showers following games should do so in the visiting team locker rooms located in Memorial Hall. Please note that soap and shampoo is provided but visiting teams MUST FURNISH THEIR OWN TOWELS.

EVENING RETREAT ON UNG CAMPUS

As one of only six senior military colleges in the United States, the University of North Georgia recognizes Evening Retreat each afternoon at 5:00 p.m. Visitors are asked to remain still until the entire song is played, the cannon is fired and the Colors are lowered.
