Yang style Tai Chi, Tai Chi Fan and Qi Kung are being taught at the Deans Marsh Community Hall on Saturday mornings from 10.00 am by Seona Gunn. Seona has been studying and practicing Tai Chi and Qi Kung for over 35 years.

Tai Chi Ch'uan or "Supreme Ultimate Fist" is an ancient Chinese martial art. The soft, flowing movements in Tai Chi are designed to gently build up strength, suppleness and stamina and they relax and develop the body and mind.

Practicing Tai Chi has many benefits for general health including stress release, the development of cardio-respiratory fitness, improvements to balance,

mitigation of onset of osteoporosis, concentration and mental alertness. Tai Chi is one of the internal martial arts as is Qi Kung and the exercises and movements develop the control of energy or "chi" throughout the body. Tai Chi is based in Taoist philosophy and is sometimes called moving harmony. Qi Kung exercises cultivate internal energy and vitality and are probably more ancient than Tai Chi. Qi Kung can improve the health of various oragns and help build up resistence to disease and ageing.

If you run a Micro Business, are thinking of starting one, or have ideas about hobbies that could be turned into a Micro Business, then The Deans Marsh Cottage would love you to get involved with our program.

AccessTech aims to assist Micro Business development in our community by providing access to a range of technologies, information and tips.

This technology may be in the form of access to equipment like computers, photocopiers and various apps, or it may be access to assistance in developing your Micro Business’ on-line presence, and the skills to maintain it.

As part of our program we are offering the free video presentations below, designed to get you ready to do business online. You can work through the content at your own pace and book a session with our AccessTech Team should you require further assistance. And don’t forget to submit your business details for inclusion in our Local Directory.

We are also exploring establishing a co-working space in Deans Marsh but at this stage most AccessTech activity is happening on-line.

If you require access to computers or printing/photocopying service please contact The Cottage.

“What works, what have we got, what’s possible and who cares?”
