Accelerate Cloud Migrations with SoftLayer

Cloud Migration Simplified – No Charge Self-Service Migrations

IBM has partnered with Racemi to help migrate physical, virtual, and even cloud workloads from other vendors to SoftLayer. Effective immediately, customers can sign up for Racemi Cloud Path for IBM, a self-service Software as a Service (SaaS) that automates workload migrations of all types to SoftLayer Cloud at no charge.

Move these workloads to Softlayer:

Physical – Replace traditional severs by moving their applications to the cloud

Virtual – Move virtual instances running on physical severs to the cloud

Cloud – Move cloud workloads from other vendors to Softlayer

Racemi Cloud Path® for IBM is a no charge Software as a Service (SaaS) enabling customers to automatically migrate their existing physical or virtual servers to IBM’s SoftLayer platform with no server

downtime.

Migrating to Softlayer with Racemi is:

Fast

–With Cloud Path for IBM, you can automatically migrate your existing server workloads to SoftLayer instances. Cloud Path’s image-based provisioning technology automates the entire

cloud migration process. There is no need to rebuild from scratch or use templates since Cloud

Path for IBM migrates the entire server “stack” - operating system, applications, and configuration.

Reliable

– Cloud Path for IBM migrates your existing server and its time tested configuration rather than requiring you to rebuild it from scratch or integrate additional technology. Its image-based provisioning technology is industry proven, providing a reliable migration method that is less error prone than other methods and with fewer potential points of failure.

No Charge

– Racemi and IBM have teamed up to offer IBM customers this easy to use Software as a Service at no charge saving customers an average of $800 per server in labor vs. a manual migration. There is simply no faster or easier way to get existing server workloads into SoftLayer.

SoftLayer Cloud Back Up for Small Business

Small/Medium business storage is typically small volumes of data and users. It usually involves local storage to servers and/or small network-attached storage (NAS) devices.

Object Store acts as a virtual storage pool that can be expanded on demand. Object Storage users multiple servers and multiple drives, meaning it replicates the data you provide to the cluster across multiple physical servers. Replication ensures that your data will be available exactly when you need it.

 Scale how, when and where needed with practically infinite capacity, pay-as-you-go pricing, CDN integration (additional charge of $0.12/GB for CDN Bandwidth), and full access and control via RESTful API, customer portal, and mobile applications

 Objects are kept safe and accessible by writing data multiple times per cluster (with auto-healing capabilities in case of drive failure) on storage clusters in North America, Europe, and Asia, all connected via private network

 Quickly access and manage data with powerful tagging, search, and indexing capabilities, or intelligent management rules to dynamically route data to the right storage system

 Based on OpenStack Swift Platform

SoftLayer Cloud Back Up for Enterprise

Enterprise Storage can handle large volumes of data and large numbers of users. It usually involves centralized storage repositories, such as storage area networks (SANs) or network-attached storage (NAS) devices.

Idera Server Backup utilizes dedicated Bare Metal Servers in a private network meaning you know exactly where your data is and that it is protected behind SoftLayer’s secure, private network.

Built for Your Workload

With a mass storage server, you have exclusive access to your storage resources. Are you building a storage server for sheer volume, or do you also need it to accommodate high input/output requests? With your choice

of hard drive types and capacities, your storage server can be built to suit your specific workload

Transfer data between your mass storage server and your SoftLayer servers at no cost across our private

network, regardless of physical location.

*Idera Server Backup Manager:

o Single Tenant, Dedicated Bare Metal Server – Know exactly where your data is at all times o Fast – Backup in minutes with Continuous Data Protection

o Multi-Platform – Windows, Linux, Physical and Virtual environments o Utilizes AES-256 Disk Safe Encryption and compression

SoftLayer Solution Sizing Options

Choosing the right cloud solution begins with knowing the mission-critical workloads and their needs. We have selected some sizing options for you to use as a guide as you talk to your clients and assess their workload requirements. This is a great tool to be able to explain and understand the value of Softlayer’s

choice and control. Please contact Avnet’s team of SoftLayer professionals and we will walk you through

these options. All options can be tweaked based on your customer’s requirements.

Proof of Concept Funding Program for SoftLayer

Cloud Spend

(IDC estimates)

2013 - $47.4 Billion 2017 - $107 Billion

YoY Projected Compound Annual Growth Rate - 23.5%

These expectations demonstrate that cloud is no longer perceived a mere less-expensive IT alternative, but as a way to foster innovation. When the right technology framework is in place, organizations can use innovative cloud technologies to jump ahead of the competition by creating more personalized connections with customers and driving competitive advantages.

The 3 factors for success in the new era of Cloud all heavily rely on Software. 1. Embrace workload requirements of mobile and social applications 2. Build analytics-ready systems

3. Integrate the front and back office
