We are happy to announce a very special partnership between the School of Nursing at Boise State and the
Nursing and Health Science Division of Lewis and Clark State College. With the permission of our applicants,
we will forward the contact information of students who are qualified but not accepted to the School of
Nursing to LCSC for consideration in their application cycle. Applicant information will only be sent for those
students who are qualified for the Boise State Nursing Program but are not selected for a position.

*Please note that admission to the School of Nursing is a separate process from admission to Boise
State University. Early application to Boise State University is strongly recommended to allow the
Registrar’s Office sufficient time to process admission to the University and evaluate any transferred
course work. Students should apply to Boise State University the semester before applying to the
School of Nursing. The priority application deadline for Boise State University admissions for Fall is
February 15 and for Spring is November 15. However, these University admission dates will be too late
for purposes of applying to the School of Nursing during that same semester. (See Important
Deadlines noted above.)

Prerequisite Information
ALL Nursing courses, pre-requisites, and support courses MUST be successfully completed with a grade of “C” (75%) or better. “C-“(less than 75%) is NOT acceptable. All courses must be completed by the end of the semester in which the application is submitted.
SECTION 1:
The following courses must be completed with a grade of “C” or better and highlighted on your transcripts. These courses are the only courses used to calculate your GPA for admission to the School Nursing.
**This must be a MATH statistics course, meaning a course being transferred from another school must have a MATH prefix.
The courses listed in Sections 2 and 3 are required but will NOT be used to calculate your GPA for admission.

The School of Nursing faculty and staff understand their responsibility to create and support an environment conducive for learning. We are committed to your success. However, it is equally important that you are aware of your
responsibilities for your own success in the Nursing Program.
Please read the list of expectations below. Your initials on each line along with your signature at the bottom of the list, indicates that you have read and understand each item.

4. ____ Students are required to attend and be prepared for ALL scheduled classes, including on-campus and off-campus clinical experiences.
5. ____ Many students work to support themselves and their families. However, please consider carefully the amount of time spent working and the possible negative ramifications on your time to study and your grades. The need to work is not considered sufficient reason for lack of preparation for classes and/or on-campus and off-campus clinical experiences.
6. ____ Students are expected to be able to read cursive writing and to read analog clock dials.
7. ____ Students are expected to become familiar with and use all tools and materials available including Bronco Web, the Academic Advising Report, Blackboard, and the School of Nursing Handbook.
8. ____ The preferred computer software at Boise State is Microsoft Office. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that they can open, read, modify and return in Microsoft format any documents that may be posted or received.
9. ____ A grade of “C – “ in any nursing or support courses is considered a failing grade in the School of Nursing and will affect a student’s ability to progress in the Nursing Program.
10. ____ Students are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from the campus and to all clinical sites.

Background Checks/Drug and Alcohol Testing
Clinical facilities require students to obtain a background and drug/alcohol check before entering their facility. The fee for this criminal background check is your financial responsibility. If the criminal background check indicates a criminal history or the drug/alcohol test is positive for controlled substances, you may be required to withdraw from the School of Nursing. You will be given information about where to complete the background/drug/alochol check in your

acceptance materials. You must utilize the company we indicate to complete your background check. Students will be required to repeat the background check process prior to each semester by pre-announced dates.
Health Requirements
Students must meet certain health requirements to enter clinical facilities. The fees for meeting these health
requirements are your financial responsibility. If new students are unable to successfully complete the requirements by identified deadlines, they will be dismissed from the Program. Foundation and Support Courses
Foundation and required support courses are not administered by the School of Nursing. The School of Nursing is not responsible for assuring course availability in any given semester or for assuring open seating in required foundation and support courses. Students are responsible to complete course requirements by deadlines as identified in the Progression Policy. If students are unable to successfully complete courses by identified deadlines, progression in the Program will be interrupted.
