Week 13: Wednesday 17

th

June 2020

Note for parents and carers:

Hi everyone, I hope you are well and the adults in year one are thinking of you all. Now that we are beginning to transition into some form of normality, I would like to update you on some changes to the Home Learning Tasks. Firstly, for those who are staying at home please continue to carry out these tasks as normal. I have combined all tasks into one document and new set of work will go up on google drive and school website every Wednesday.

Currently we have 8 children in total attending school (4 children on Monday & Tuesday and 4 children on Thursday & Friday). There will be five subject focuses

throughout the week; English, maths, topic, PSHE and phonics. The children attending on Monday & Tuesday will complete lessons 1 and lessons 2 in school. It is then up to you to complete lessons 3 and 4 at home. Likewise, children coming in to school Thursday & Friday will complete lessons 1 and lessons 2 with me in school and you will need to complete lessons 3 and 4 at home.

I understand this is a lot of work but I will endeavour to keep tasks to manageable chunks. Please try and do as much as you can at home as this will really consolidate learning and help them prepare for year 2. If you have any questions please use google drive to contact me as I will still be checking it as normal.

If you would like a paper copy of the weekly lessons, please come in to school to collect them on Wednesdays from 10.30 – 10.45. You can also collect reading books for your child during this time slot.

Once you have read or listened to the story, discuss the following questions (you can use the key vocabularies from the word mat below to support your discussion).

Extension: Write your answers in full sentences using your phonics.

Where does Lila live and what is the weather like there?

Why did Lila want the sun to stop shining and for the rain to come? What did Lila’s grandfather say was the secret of rain?

Lesson 1 – Topic

Our new topic for this term is; Environmental issues. Humans change the

environment every day. Some of the actions humans take cause the earth to become damaged. This damage is called an environmental issue. Each week, we will explore one type of environmental issue and look at the ways in which we can help to prevent further damage to the world we live in.
