TRAINER INSTRUCTIONS

This package has been compiled to assist Trainers in the on site, timely and accurate correction of students written or verbal assessments. All pages of the “Assessment Package” are to be returned to TAM Administration for the recording of the students attainment.

Forms of Assessment

The trainer is required to obtain at least 3 types of evidence but preferably more. These may include but are not limited to the following:-

1. Written or Verbal Assessment (the later for those with writing or literary difficulties)

2. Observation by the Trainer of ‘on-site work’ called Practical Assessment for work carried out on the student’s job site.

3. A Third Party Report completed by the employer after he is satisfied that the student/trainee has demonstrated the required knowledge and skills consistently whilst on the job.

4. A Photographic Record of work completed on site corroborated/signed by the employer where possible with the trainee carrying out the actual work. These photos should contain name, date, and the units that are supported by the photographic evidence. (Only to be used as supportive evidence)

5. Other forms of evidence including recognition of prior learning and skills, corroborated by a former employer accompanied by photographic evidence or a CT being a credit transfer from a previous RTO where a trainee has already completed some or all of that unit of competency.

Trainer is to tick the Yes box against each Form of Evidence if the student has completed this part successfully.

• Trainer is to place a cross (X) against any element attempted that is not successful. • Do not place anything against evidence if the student has not attempted it.

Ensure that you can provide evidence of all assessments attempted. A minimum of 3

items of assessment, at a satisfactory standard are required for students to achieve competency. Normally it is possible to provide more.

Trainer is to ensure that at the completion of the training course (Qualification) an AQTF feedback form is completed, and forwarded to Administration for processing.

Verbal Assessment

The purpose of this assessment is to establish your attainment of satisfactory for the theory component of this unit.

This assessment should be completed within the allocated time and returned to the Trainer on completion in your writing or verbally answered and written by your trainer or an

appointed person.

This examination should be marked immediately after you have completed the paper. If you are required to provide further information or redo a question, a limited time may be allocated so that the assessment can be completed satisfactorily while in attendance. When answering multiple-choice questions, select and circle the one answer that best answers the question.

If calculations are required in the test, the use of calculators is permitted, however all memories of calculators must be erased to the satisfaction of the supervisor/ trainer. If calculations are required in the test, students should show each working step of

working.

The writing of undesirable or illegible responses and bad language will result in you having to redo this written assessment paper.

When answering multiple choice type questions circle or tick one answer only as shown in example. How many centimetres in a metre?

32. Utilising the picture below, provide the standard deduction used when cutting glass to fit a timber sash frame. In addition, provide the size of the glass to be cut to fit the window sash frame.

Firstly you must locate where the beading of the empty frame starts in this window sash, this is usually internally.

This should be where the flat part of the frame/opener finishes and starts to shape in towards the glass.

Above you can see the red arrows A, B, C and D pointing to the areas where the beading starts.

To measure the opening of the frame (tight sizes) you would measure from A to B for the

width. In this instance A to B is 1043 mm wide.

The next measurement taken would be C to D, which is the height. In this instance the figure is 715 mm.

The measurement of 1043mm x 715mm is not accurate however, as the glass size is the tight size. A small amount needs to be deducted so that the glass can be positioned correctly and also compensate for any slight errors created by the glass-cutting tool.
