Windows Azure
The Windows Azure Virtual Network, enables customers to create VPNs between VMs running on Azure and between VMs running on Azure datacenter and those deployed on-premises data centers.
Azure VPNs simplify the creation of a hybrid deployment that uses on-premises and cloud-based servers (such as an application that uses an on-premises SQL Server computer and a Web server deployed on Azure) and can help customers use Azure IaaS resources for on-demand scaling during peak usage times when more server capacity than is available on-premises is required. Windows Azure Virtual Machines is an Azure IaaS feature that allows customers to quickly provision Virtual Machines (VMs) (on which they receive full administrator control) running Windows Server or Linux in Azure data centers. The Azure VMs preserve the state of the OS and applications across reboots and data center reconfigurations as expected in an enterprise datacenter.
Virtual Machine (VM) images can be selected from a preset library that includes Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012…or even CentOS, OpenSUSE, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, and Ubuntu Linux distributions.
