All letter-size reply cards and envelopes – Business Reply Mail – BRM/QBRM

Provided as enclosures in automation First-Class Mail, Periodicals, Standard Mail and addressed for return to a domestic delivery address must

meet the applicable standards for automation-compatible mail

 IMb Uniqueness

– Reply mail itself does not need to be unique but must not interfere with the

uniqueness of the outgoing mail

– Uniqueness for outgoing mail is determined by the MID and Serial Number within

class of mail

Outgoing First-Class Full-Service IMb mail cannot have the same MID/Serial

numbers as Reply Mail

 Clients should consider having separate MIDs for Reply Mail

Outgoing Standard Mail may have the same MID/Serial numbers as Reply Mail

Reply Mail Choices

Definition of different types of Reply Mail ... in layman terms -

MRM - Meter Reply Mail - Reply mail that the originator (our client) pays up-front to add a

Meter Imprint onto the reply mailpiece, the person/target receiving the mailpiece then does not have to pay postage to send the reply back to the originator (our client).

PRM - Permit Reply Mail - Only applies to First-Class Mail - Not Standard Mail. Postage is

paid on all mailpieces at the time of the outgoing mailing.

CRM - Courtesy Reply Mail - Reply mail that the person/target sending the reply back to

the originator (our client) needs to provide their own postage, such as a First-Class Stamp. – BRM - Business Reply Mail - Clients sign-up and have a annual permit fee - each reply

mailpiece that is sent back through the "system", the Post Office charges our clients a First-Class price and a handling fee - this amount is deducted from our clients account.

 BRM Basic – No minimum

 BRM High Volume – Need a minimum of 900 reply mailpieces per year

QBRM - Qualified Business Reply Mail - is similar to the BRM Program - but, it has

additional discounts .... there are 2 types of QBRM

 QBRM Basic - To qualify client need to have a min of 900 reply mailpiece per year

– Selective Customer Satisfaction Surveys

– Small event invitations

 Client prefunds the postage for the meter

– Meter postage is applied by RMS and piece is then inserted into the

Qualified Business Reply Mail - QBRM

 Qualified Business Reply Mail - QBRM is a subset of Business Reply Mail – Significantly less cost than regular BRM

 There are 2 different options

– QBRM Basic

 To benefit clients need to have a minimum of 900 reply mailpieces per year

– QBRM High Volume

 Financially, clients need to have 42,000 reply mailpieces per quarter  QBRM

– Mailers distribute automation-compatible letter-size pieces that qualify for

automation postage rates and reduced per piece fees

– QBRM postage and per piece fees must be deducted from a BRM advance

deposit account

 QBRM provides an automated method of processing and postage accounting for postcards and letters, at a reduced fee
