Merit Based Scholarships
Be sure to check with the colleges to which you will apply to determine if they award Merit Based
Scholarships. These awards usually require no formal application, as they are awarded based on a review of your transcript and standardized test scores, if the later are included in the criteria.
Employee Based Scholarships
Many employers provide scholarships to the children of their employees. Ask your parents to check to see if their employer(s) sponsor such scholarships.

September Deadlines
Davidson College
Bryan Scholars Program: A scholarship for top scholar athletes.
Criteria: Student must demonstrate an outstanding academic record and strong leadership both on and off the playing field. Must be able to compete at the NCAA Division I level. Student must apply to Davidson by October 15th (the ED commitment to enroll does not apply)
Deadline: The counseling office can nominate three students and must do so by September 19th. Please see you counselor if you are interested. Student application material is required by October 15th.
October Deadlines
North Carolina State University, Raleigh NC
Park Scholarship: Full tuition, room and board. Also includes educational trips and enrichment grants to be used to fund study abroad programs, research projects, service activities, or conferences
Criteria: Students are chosen based on their accomplishments and potential in scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
Only two students can be nominated for this scholarship. Please let your counselor know if you are interested and that you will be applying to the university.
Deadline: Counselor nomination form must be submitted by 10/1/2014 Student application must be submitted by 11/1/14
Washington University in St. Louis
Danforth Scholars Program
Criteria: A strong academic, community service, and leadership profile.
Deadline: Counselor nomination is due by 10/15/14 Student online application is due by 11/1/14 Please let your counselor know if you will be applying to Washington University and that you are interested in being nominated for this scholarship.
UNC Charlotte
The Levine Scholarship
Criteria: for students who have demonstrated a commitment to community, a passion for learning and the capacity for ethical leadership. The scholarship includes full tuition, room and board and four summer experiences including internships and international travel.
Deadlines: student must be nominated by their counselor by 10/15/14 Student applications are due by 11/1/15

Molloy College
Molloy College awards a variety of scholarships for entering full-time freshman. Molloy College Scholars Program: Full Tuition
Criteria: 95% high school average (A range for Manhasset) and a 1300 combined Critical Reading and Math SAT or 29 ACT score.
Deadline: December 15, 2015
Fine Art and Performing Arts Scholarships
Criteria: Students are chosen based on an audition, submission of a portfolio or other documented experience. Recipients must major in the areas for which the scholarships are awarded.

University of Virginia
The Jefferson Scholarship
The counseling office is only permitted to nominate two (2) students. As such, submitted applications will be reviewed to determine which candidates beat match the criteria established by the university.
Criteria: student must be committed to the Jeffersonian ideals of excellence in leadership,
scholarship, and citizenship. The student must not be applying to a binding Early Decision program. Deadline: Counselor nominations must be received by 12/1/14

Ithaca College
Roy H. Park School of Communications: Park Scholar Awards
The counseling office has been invited to nominate students who are interested in attending the Park School of Communications at Ithaca College and who might qualify for this award. The scholarship covers the full cost of attendance. If you are planning on a career in media, and Ithaca College is on your list, please see your counselor.
Criteria: Park Scholars are strong students with a serious interest in and commitment to the world of media. (film, journalism, radio, television)
Deadline: Students must apply to Ithaca College by January 2, 2015 and complete the Park Scholar Award material by January 15, 2015. Additional information is available at: [email protected]
University of Michigan
Geisinger Scholarship
The Geisinger Scholarship is awarded to a non-Michigan resident who is enrolled full-time in the College of Engineering. The annual award is $20,000. Owen B. Walsh We Care Scholarship
Criteria: Must reside in Nassau County. Applications are reviewed based on a student’s academic achievement, character, personal involvement in school and community activities, and perseverance to excel in light of extreme and challenging life circumstances.

February Deadlines
New York Water Environment Association, Inc.
Criteria: Applicant must be and remain a New York resident. Applicant must enroll in college in September 2015. Applicant must enroll in a program with a focus on environmental issues, such as environmental engineering, civil or chemical engineering with a minor in environmental studies. Application is available in the Counseling Office scholarship file.

Molloy College
Dominican Academic Scholarships
Criteria: Based on Academic Achievement. Awards range from $4000, to $20,000. Deadline: March 1, 2015
Molloy College Community Service Award
Criteria: A commitment to their community and school. Applicants must file a community service scholarship application, which is available at the office of admissions or the Molloy website. (We have a few applications in the Counseling Office)

Association of Fire Districts of the State of New York
The Ned Carter Scholarship
Criteria: Must be a resident of New York State who will be graduating from high school in June 2015, and who is related to a firefighter or is a firefighter who is a current paid member of the Association of Fire Districts of the State of New York.

April Deadlines
The Maria A. Sciara Scholarship
Criteria: Student must be a resident of Nassau or Suffolk County, New York. Must be enrolled in high school full-time. Must graduate in June 2015 and attend a two or four year college. Must reside with a parent or guardian who is a survivor of cancer or resided with a parent or guardian who was a victim of cancer (other than breast cancer)

The LI2 Day Walk Scholarship
Criteria: Student must be a resident of Nassau or Suffolk County, New York. Must be enrolled in high school full-time. Must graduate in June 2015 and attend a two or four year college. Must reside with a parent or guardian who is a survivor of breast cancer or resided with a parent or guardian who was a victim of breast cancer or other women’s cancer.
