MANUAL FOR CONNECTING TO VIVACOM NET WI-FI NETWORK

HIDDEN ENCRYPTED WI-FI NETWORK

Instructions for users of ASUS EeePC с Linux

Before you go through the steps in this manual, make sure to press the «submit» button in http://my.contact.bg Æ My Network Æ Wi-Fi settings page. This will ensure that your Wi-Fi modem is ready with your personal settings.

Dear Customer,

The following manual for setting up your VIVACOM Net Wi-Fi network assumes you have already successfully activated and configured your network settings via http://my.contact.bg.

If you are not sure about the exact configuration or you do not remember some of the parameters please visit again http://my.contact.bg and follow the instructions to configure these settings on your computer. It is easy and does not require technical knowledge. Just remember the following settings:

• SSID – the name you have chosen for your wireless network • The visibility of your network – hidden.

The Instructions presume your network is hidden. If in http://my.contact.bg you have configured your VIVACOM Net Wi-Fi network as visible, please, download “Manual for Connecting to VIVACOM Net Wi-Fi network for visible Wi-Fi network”

• Selected security type - WEP, WPA or other • Type of the encryption key – TKIP, AES or other • The key itself

Without these parameters you will not be able to complete the settings on your computer and to use the wireless Internet connection.

In order to connect your laptop to the already setup wireless network please follow the steps described below.

Fn + F2

and check if the wireless connection indicator on the panel under the keyboard of the laptop lights in blue.

(5)

You will see this window. Chose Any and go click Next to continue.

In this window the encryption type (security) of your wireless network has to be configured (in case you have secured it during the network configuration in http://my.contact.bg).

In case you have encrypted your network, mark Enable encryption. Chose the type of the encryption from the list in Encryption type drop-down menu. It has to be the same as you have set it in http://my.contact.bg - WEP or WPA.

Then in the Key field fill in the password exactly as you have configured it in http://my.contact.bg.
