Top 5 Benefits of Moving to the Cloud

1.Improves security and enables

compliance

2.Cost reduction

3.Promotes teamwork and innovation

4.Simplifies IT management

5.Promotes agility

(4)

Why D365?

4

Key 1: Dynamics Complexity

5

Multiple Tenants/Organizations

If present, need to assess each

individually. May have impact on feasibility of “lift and shift” migration.

Schema Customizations

Custom Columns (fields) in base Tables

Custom Tables/Forms/Views/Business Rules

Custom Dashboards/Charts

Out-of-box or Power BI?

Custom Processes

Dialogs • Business Processes

Workflows • Power Automate Flows

Custom Code

• Web Resources

Custom images

Custom JavaScript

Custom Web Controls

• Workflow Assemblies

• Plug-ins

UCI Compatibility

• Screen reorganization

• Deprecated code structures and objects

• Dialogs no longer supported

(6)

Key 2: Integrations with Other Systems

6

Supported Direct Integrations

• Outlook/Outlook 365/Office 365

• SharePoint/SharePoint Online

• Third-party Managed Solutions

• SSRS Reports

Supported Integration Solutions

• Scribe

• B2B Solutions

• SSIS/Scheduled Jobs

Unsupported Integrations

Local applications that access on-premise Dynamics SQL Server directly instead of through Dynamics object layer

Non-Dynamics Data objects created directly in the Dynamics SQL Server database

SQL tables

SQL views

SQL triggers

SQL stored procedures

If present, these must be removed prior to a

“lift and shift” data migration.

(7)

Key 3: Data and Data Quality

7

Data Migration Type

Complete: migrate all data to D365

Partial: determine subset of records needed to migrate

Best Practices:

Keep lookup data

Keep active core records and

subset of recently-deactivated core records

Ensure that records to be migrated are owned by active users

Archive data that are not migrated?

If multiple tenants/organizations, do strategies differ between them?

On-premise DB size is a consideration

If DB is large and the subset of

required data is more than half of the entire set of records, it may make

sense to perform a complete “lift and shift” even if only partial data are

required, then remove non-required data.

Initiation Discovery Analysis Review

Client completes initial questionnaire

Conduct kickoff meeting and identify client

resources and their related roles

Utilize the Platform Assessment Tool (PAT) to collect initial data

Share results and provide a roadmap of

the D365 solution overview

Show functional demo of Dynamics to understand how the client is using Dynamics to manage business

processes

Catapult analyzes the PAT data
