Dear St. Louis Parishioners and Friends,

St. Louis has been my parish since John and I moved here in 1980. My children all attended St. Louis School and received their first sacraments here. My husband became Catholic and received the sacraments at St. Louis as well. I was a

teacher at St. Louis School many years ago and now Principal.

This parish has been a major guiding influence on my life in Rochester, NY for more than 40 years. My closest friends are members of the St. Louis Parish and each St. Louis priest from Fr. Reddington to Fr.

Zygadlo has offered me peace in my spiritual life.

I will be retiring from the school this summer. I will miss the children and our wonderful teachers, but I am comforted by the knowledge that I will continue to reap the goodness and support of the St. Louis Community for many years to come.

Thank you, St. Louis Parish, for your great kindness and support over the years.

Blessings,

Fran Barr

Honored except at home A very warm welcome to all who have come to

St. Louis Church to worship this weekend, both physically and virtually though live-stream!

We are grateful to our parishioners, and we welcome our guests who visit us

with love and assurance of our prayers!

Our Mission: Welcome to St. Louis Parish in Pittsford, NY, where we proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, as taught by the Roman Catholic Church, through Word, Sacraments, and Ministry to all. As faithful disciples, offering our time, talents, and treasures, we bring people closer together and closer to God.

Live the Liturgy - Inspiration for the Week

“Do not be afraid, just have faith.” God does not rejoice in our demise or our destruction. Rather, He made us in his image and desires that we have life. He also desires that we be healed and know His loving touch. There is great power in an embrace offered in love. The touch of another can heal wounds and restore life. There is also power in faith. Faith can turn us toward the truth and turn us toward God. Both love and faith can lead us to hope that no matter what we encounter, God will continue to sustain us in being. He will not allow us to perish. God can

profoundly change how we see Him, ourselves, and one another. God desires that we turn toward Him and be healed of all that wounds and binds us so that we can be free and enjoy the fullness of life. We are asked to arise and walk proudly with this life-giving faith. Reach out and share this faith with someone this week so that they too can receive God’s life changing embrace and heed His call to wholeness. There are many in our world wandering

around aimlessly without hope. Bring it to them. ©LPi

"We are celebrating a feast day, consecrated for us by the blood of the apostles. Let us love their faith, their lives, their labors, their sufferings, their confession of faith, their preaching.” This week we celebrate the Solemnity of Sts.

Peter and Paul, each of whom spread the Gospel to the nations in the earliest days of the Church. In honor of Paul, the Apostle of the Gentiles, enjoy this film the Bible Collection!

St. Peter’s Soup Kitchen

is the Recipient of Next Week’s Support

St. Peter’s Soup Kitchen has served the West Side Community of the City of Rochester since 1982, when Father Richard Czierwin, SS.CC. began a weekly soup and sandwich program that has grown to serve a well-balanced lunch to an average 140 people a day, Monday through Friday. St. Peter’s guests come from all lifestyles and many have troubles with addiction, mental illness, physical illness, lost homes and low wage earnings. Any person who walks through its doors is welcome to share in a meal.

Over the past 39 years, St. Peter’s has been building a strong and connected community and have gained the trust of the people they serve. St. Peter’s is a pillar in the community and recognizes their unique ability to act as a center to start expanding programs to address the root causes of the devastating poverty that the majority of its guests experience. Beginning the St. Peter’s Garden of Love (in partnership with Foodlink), for example, as well as being a host to Foodlink’s many course offerings strengthen St. Peters mission to build food security and knowledge .

St. Peter’s Kitchen recently announced a new collaborative initiative with Rochester’s REACH Advocacy and the Coptic Church to provide transitional housing for members of its community in need, based in the former rectory of the St. Peter’s campus. REACH stands for Rochester Engaging in Action for the Chronically Homeless, and St. Peter’s support their tireless work of promoting housing as a human right.

2020-2021 Catholic Ministries Appeal The 2020-2021 CMA has come to a close. Thank you for your generosity! We raised nearly $237,000 towards our goal of almost $260,000. This deficit of $23,000 was offset by a grant from the Diocese of

$7,000. Thanks to other parishes in the Diocese who raised over their CMA goal, the Diocese was able to reduce the amount owed by parishes like ours who were short of their goal.

After accounting for this grant, we will pay the Diocese $16,000 to reflect the balance due from our shortfall.

Thank you again for your help with this critical mission and we look forward to your

participation in the 2021-2022 campaign!

Peter’s Pence Collection this week

Today is the Peter’s Pence Collection, a worldwide collection that supports the work of the Universal Church, including the work of the Holy See and the charitable works of Pope Francis. Take this opportunity to join with Pope Francis and be a sign of mercy to our suffering brothers and sisters. Please be generous today. For more information, visit www.peterspence.va/en.html.

Gardening Angels Needed

Our St. Louis gardens are our first sign of welcome, and they are doing very well this year! Just as our gardens at home need continuous care, so do the beds and shrubs at St. Louis. If you have a love of being outside, playing in the dirt, or a knack for

trimming bushes and could give part of an evening or part of a Saturday, we need Gardening Angels!

The commitment can be very flexible, for both the time commitment and the choice of specialty: We need someone to check on the geranium planter weekly (no bending, it’s waist-high!) or to spend a time or two tending another area that catches your eye.

Please contact Sally at Sally.Schrecker@dor.org or 586-5675 x235, and we will find a place that fits your green thumb!

Caldwell Manufacturing located on Manitou Road is a premier window balance producer. Caldwell is encouraging employees to volunteer for the set up

and the actual sale. Their $10,000 donation to the Annual Super Sale, is a terrific way to start the sale. They have previously done many collections for us and have helped us with a major reorganization at our warehouse.

Saint’s Place is looking forward to continued association with Caldwell after the sale. Thank you to Eric Metz, President and CEO and Gary Miller, Chief Operating Officer and all the terrific employees of Caldwell Manufacturing for their support and belief in our Mission of “Welcoming the Strangers”.

EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT HELP NEEDED:

Hello St. Louis Parish,

My name is Andrew Stansbury. I am a Life Scout in Troop 215 in Mendon, a member of St. Louis Parish, and altar server. For the past few months, I have been planning my Eagle Scout project,

which I hope to complete by the end of August. My project involves making a GAGA pit for St. Louis School that could also be used by the church youth. Gaga Ball is like dodgeball that is contained inside a wooden seven sided pit. The unit will be made out of lumber and the sides will be connected with hinges so that it can be portable. For Eagle Scout projects, scouts are expected to do some fundraising to help the

organization that is sponsoring the project. If you are interested in helping or if you just want to support scouting, would you please consider contributing to this project? Just place your contributions in the collection box at church or send by mail to the church office and mark the donation “Eagle Scout Project.” You can also donate via https://gofund.me/7d4e0fd9. My total budget for this project is about $1000. Any additional proceeds will go directly to St. Louis School. I Hope you will be able to donate to this project. Thank you, Andrew.
