STUDENT LOAN AGREEMENT

Please read this information carefully

The Student Loan Scheme provides short-term financial assistance to help meet some of the costs involved in studying. This could include purchase of textbooks, study materials, study aids and costs related to practicum placements.

What is not covered?

• Student loans are NOT available for payment of HECS, Library fines or other fees

• Student loans are generally NOT available for payment of living expenses such as rent, bond, phone, rates, electricity bills, holiday expenses, airfares, family expenses, insurance, fines or court costs.

Student Loans

• Are available up to $500.

• Usually take up to seven (7) working days for approval and processing.

To qualify for a loan

• You MUST have permanent Australian residency status;

• You MUST demonstrate a clear need for the loan (bring evidence to support your application);

• You MUST be able to demonstrate your ability to repay the loan in full within the specified time (please complete the attached Fortnightly Income & Expenditure Sheet).

How to apply

• Complete Student Loan Application Form and Fortnightly Income & Expenditure sheet.

• Make an appointment to see the Student Equity and Diversity Officer at Student Life and Learning. Ground Floor Building E, Phone 07 5430 1226

• Bring your student card and all information supporting your Loan Application.

• If you are going on prac, bring signed confirmation from your Placement Coordinator.

• Bring proof of your income (either Centrelink Income Statements or pay-slips).

• Bring your bank account details

• Bring original quotes for books or equipment, eg from the Co-op Book Shop.

Approval of loans

• Allow seven (7) working days for loan approval and payment.

Repayment of loan

• A printable online invoice will be in USCCentral under For Students, My Financial Status, View Financial Status. Your invoice will show your balance, reference numbers and methods of payment via POSTbillpay including by telephone, website (www.postbillpay.com.au) or in person at any post office.

• Should you cease to be an enrolled student at the University of the Sunshine Coast, repayment of the loan in full is required immediately.

• Students need to make regular fortnightly repayments.

• REPAYMENTS ARE NOT DEBTED FROM THE STUDENT BANK ACCOUNT.

Penalties

If you have not contacted Student Life and Learning to review your loan and your loan is not repaid according to your agreement, penalties will apply:

• Academic transcripts and results for the semester may be withheld

• Re-enrolment may be prevented.

I confirm that the terms and conditions of the agreement for the loan between myself and the University are as follows:

1. I will repay the loan.

2. I will repay the instalments as outlined.

3. I agree that, should I make a default in any term or condition of the loan, I may I. have all awards, transcript and references withheld;

II. be prevented from re-enrolling; and/or graduating
