Overview of the Keysight P7000A Base Station Measurement Automation Solution

The Keysight P7000A Base Station Measurement Automation Solution consists of integrated software and hardware to accelerate the development of automated test on 5G NR Base Stations (gNB) according to the 3GPP Technical Specification 1 38.141-1 and 3GPP Technical Specification 38.141-2 for Chapter 6, 7 and 8; this same solution is used to test an O-RAN Radio Unit (O-RU) according to the O-RAN.WG4.CONF Conformance Test Specification 2.

All tests run on the Keysight KS8400A PathWave Test Automation Software architecture, which is centered around a Test Automation Engine, built on OpenTAP, and can be extended with plug-ins.

• Plug-ins come in packages; a package is a versioned collection of plug-ins.

• P7000A packages extend the capabilities of the Test Automation Engine and include:

o Packages for 3GPP TS 38.141-1 & 3GPP TS 38.141-2 Chapter 6 & 7 Test Cases:

- P7000A MDL and Test Plan Generator package provides a Manufacturer’s Declaration List (MDL) Editor application and a Test Plan Generator application

- P7000A 5G RF Parametric Test Suite package provides 3GPP TS 38.141-1 & 3GPP TS 38.141-2 Chapter 6 FR1 & FR2, Chapter 7 FR1 & FR2 test cases and a Test Report Generator plug-in for reporting test results

o Package for 3GPP TS 38.141-2 Chapter 8 Test Cases:

Tests Defined by O-RAN.WG4.CONF for an O-RAN Radio Unit (O-RU)

The P7050A1CNF O-RAN Radio Unit UC-Plane FR1 conducted FDD base automated toolset and the P7050A1CNT O-RAN Radio Unit UC-Plane FR1 conducted TDD base automated toolset together with PathWave Test Automation software and P7000A Base Station Measurement Automation Software are parts of integrated software and hardware that create a solution to accelerate the development of automated test for Conformance and Design Verification Test (DVT) of an O-RAN Radio Unit (O-RU).

All tests for an O-RAN Radio Unit run on the Keysight KS8400A PathWave Test Automation Software architecture, which is centered around a Test Automation Engine, built on OpenTAP, and allows configuration and execution of test plans through a Graphical User Interface (GUI).

Tests for an O-RAN Radio Unit do not require any additional packages and therefore does not utilize the Package Manager. See the Keysight P705xA User’s Guide for an O-RAN Radio Unit (P7050-90002).

Depending on the type of test being performed, software, licenses (if required), and plug-in packages can be used (after download, installation, and licensing) from the Test Automation Editor Tools menu.

Test automation software

KS8400A PathWave Test Automation Software 1

Keysight KS8400A PathWave Test Automation software is licensed based on the options purchased.

Licenses are sold as fixed node-locked to a single PC, transportable, and network floating in either perpetual or subscription.

License type Description

Fixed, node-locked

(single PC) Allows you to use the license on one specified instrument/computer.

Transportable

Allows you to use the license on one instrument or computer at a time. This license may be transferred to another instrument or computer using Keysight’s online tool.

Network floating (multiple PCs)

Allows you to access the license on networked instruments/computers from a server, one at a time. For concurrent access, multiple licenses may be purchased. Three types of floating licenses are available:

Single Site: 1-mile radius from the server, Single Region2: Americas; Europe; Asia, Worldwide: export restriction identified in End User License Agreement (EULA)

Perpetual Software license can be used in perpetuity.

Subscription Software license is available for the length of the subscription.

Support subscription Description

KeysightCare support subscription

Perpetual licenses are sold with a 12 (default), 24, 36, or 60-month software support subscription. Support subscriptions can be renewed for a fee after the initial license has expired.

Subscriptions already include a software support subscription through the term of the license.

2. Base Software

Whether you test 3GPP TS 38.141-1 & 3GPP TS 38.141-2 for gNB Chapter 6, 7 & 8 or test

O-RAN.WG4.CONF for an O-RAN Radio Unit (O-RU), a version of base software is required for every computer running test cases. This base software provides basic measurement features as well as DUT and Positioner APIs. If you already have purchased the base software for a computer, it is possible to purchase test cases without having to re-purchase the base software. To include this required selection with your quote and configuration, select base software and select a license type and subscription.

Each of the following license types are offered as perpetual or subscription licenses as shown in the table below. A valid support contract is included with subscription licenses. For a perpetual license, a separate support contract is required to access Keysight technical support and software updates.

(single PC) Allows you to use the license on one specified instrument/computer.

Transportable

Allows you to use the license on one instrument or computer at a time.

This license may be transferred to another instrument or computer using Keysight’s online tool.

USB portable

Allows you to move the license from one instrument/computer to another by end-user only with certified USB dongle, which is purchased

separately.

Network floating (multiple PCs)

Allows you to access the license on networked instruments/computers from a server, one at a time. For concurrent access, multiple licenses may be purchased. Three types of floating licenses are available:
