UPDATE ON DINING/BANQUET ROOM IMPROVEMENT FUND
As of August 29th, we have raised a total of $4,601, which is a nice increase over last month.
The Fox Run Ladies held a 50/50 raffl e for the Men’s Member/Guest, which was a big success, raising a little over $700.
We also had members who voluntarily added contributions to their monthly dues. We would again like to encourage each member to voluntarily contribute $20 per month for fi ve months
for a total $100 for each member.
The Ladies will continue to hold 50/50 raffl es for any upcoming events that have a shotgun start.
If you have any suggestions on how we can raise more to add to the fund, please see Peggie Jolly or Doris Fisher.
Everyone’s help is needed to get this much-needed project done. It will benefi t the club for members’ usage and in the long-term by making our club more marketable for outside rentals.
THANK YOU to everyone who has helped us get closer to our goal by being so generous.

Dear Fox Run Members:
It is with great concern that the Handicap Committee continues to see on average less than 50% of the membership entering scores when they play a round of golf. Remember a score should be entered for every acceptable round including rounds of 9 holes. The USGA rules require a score be entered for 9 holes if you play 7 to 12 holes and a score for 18 holes should be entered if you play 13 to 18 holes.
The reason the committee continues to dwell on this is related to the requirements of being a licensed member of the USGA and the Carolinas Golf Association.
We all know the purpose of the USGA Handicap System is to make the game of golf more enjoyable by enabling players of differing abilities to compete on an equitable basis.
Two basic premises underlie the USGA Handicap System, namely that each player will try to make the best score at every hole in every round, regardless of where the round is played, and that the player will post every acceptable round for peer review. The player and the player’s Handicap Committee have a joint responsibility to these premises.
Members of a golf club must have a reasonable and regular opportunity to play golf with each other.
They must be able to return scores personally, and those scores must be readily available for inspection by others, including but not limited to, fellow members and the club’s Handicap Committee.
If you do not post your scores on a regular basis then you may not be able to play in tournament competition, at Fox Run and any Carolinas Golf Association amateur tournaments. Even if you only play in team events like a four ball outing, the handicap you supply should be a valid reflection of your potential.
The USGA recommends that you post your score in person immediately following the round at the course where the round is played. While this may not be convenient, the committee has asked that you enter you score within 48 hours. Remember, you can enter your score at the computer located in the club house, or you can enter them on line at www.ghin.com. If you have any questions please see any of the professional staff or Handicap Committee members, all handicap committee members are listed at the bottom of this communication.
There are several things that are required by the USGA and the Carolinas Golf Association for a club to maintain its license to issue a Handicap Index. The chart below is a list of items the club and the Handicap Committee need to follow. Please review this check list so you will be aware of the reasons we ask all of you to please enter your scores.
