WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
*CALL TO WORSHIP | Psalm 100
(Leader) Make a joyful noise to the L
ORD, all the earth! Serve the L
ORDwith gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!
(All) Know that the L
ORD, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
(Leader) Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him;
bless his name!
*HYMN OF ADORATION
|
O That I Had a Thousand Voices Johann Mentzer, 1704 | Parker AdamsOh, that I had a thousand voices to praise my God with thousand tongues!
My heart, which in the Lord rejoices, would then proclaim in grateful songs, To all, wherever I might be, what great things God hath done for me.
O all you powers that he implanted, arise, and silence keep no more;
Put forth the strength that he hath granted! Your noblest work is to adore.
O soul and body, be ye meet with heartfelt praise your Lord to greet!
All creatures that have breath and motion, that throng the earth, the sea and sky, Now join, me in my heart’s devotion, help me to raise his praises high.
My utmost powers can ne’er aright declare the wonders of his might.
O Father, deign thou, I beseech thee, to listen to my earthly lays;
A nobler strain in heav’n shall reach thee, when I with angels hymn thy praise,
And learn amid their choirs to sing, loud hallelujahs to my King
.*PRAYER OF ADORATION CORPORATE CONFESSION
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father,
You have loved us with a love beyond our understanding and called us to be holy as you are holy. Yet, we have gone deaf to your call and sought a righteousness of our own. You have called us into the church, your Body, yet we have continued to live as individuals, being factious, and spurning the unity you have called us to. You have called us to love our neighbor and to serve one another, yet we have ignored the needs of our neighbor and served our own self-interests. You have told us to praise you and give you glory, yet we have exalted ourselves and sought our own honor. Father forgive us. Forgive the ways we have substituted your truth with lies. Forgive how we have sought our own kingdoms rather than yours. Forgive us; and soften our hearts to your word, open our eyes to your will, direct our steps to follow your path, and hear our prayers of silent confession…
SILENT CONFESSION
ASSURANCE OF PARDON | 1 Peter 2:22-24
[Jesus] committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
*SONG OF RENEWAL | Come Ye Sinners Joseph Hart, 1759 | Matthew Smith, 2000
Come, ye sinners, poor and wretched, weak and wounded, sick and sore;
Jesus, ready, stands to save you, full of pity, joined with power.
He is able, He is able; He is willing; doubt no more.
Come ye needy, come, and welcome, God’s free bounty glorify;
True belief and true repentance, every grace that brings you nigh.
Without money, without money come to Jesus Christ and buy.
Come, ye weary, heavy laden, bruised and broken by the fall;
If you tarry ’til you’re better, you will never come at all.
Not the righteous, not the righteous; sinners Jesus came to call.
Let not conscience make you linger, nor of fitness fondly dream;
All the fitness He requires is to feel your need of Him.
This He gives you, this He gives you, ’tis the Spirit’s rising beam.
Lo! The Incarnate God, ascended; pleads the merit of His blood.
Venture on Him; venture wholly, let no other trust intrude.
None but Jesus, none but Jesus can do helpless sinners good.
*SONG OF RENEWAL | For All the Saints How, 1864 | Miner, 1997
For all the saints who from their labors rest, To thee by faith before the world confess, Thy name, O Jesus, be forever blessed.
Alleluia! Allelu!
Thou wast their rock, their fortress, and their might;
Thou, Lord, their Captain in the well-fought fight;
Thou in the darkness drear, their one true light.
Alleluia! Allelu!
O may thy soldiers faithful, true, and bold, Fight as the saints who nobly fought of old, And win with them the victor’s crown of gold.
Alleluia! Allelu!
The golden evening brightens in the west;
Soon, soon to faithful warriors come their rest;
Sweet is the calm of paradise the blest.
Alleluia! Allelu!
But lo! There breaks a yet more glorious day;
The saints triumphant rise in bright array;
The King of glory passes on his way.
Alleluia! Allelu!
From earth’s wide bounds, from ocean’s farthest coast, Through gates of pearl streams in the countless host, Singing to the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Alleluia! Alleluia!

THE LORD’S SUPPER |See comments below
We come forward by row to receive the elements. Wine is found in red cups (outer ring), grape juice in clear cups (inside rings). Gluten free wafers are available in both serving lines. If you are unable to come forward, please notify the server walking around with the elements. You are welcome to participate in the Lord’s Supper if you are a baptized Christian and a member of an evangelical church. If this does not describe you, we encourage you to spend this time in prayer to consider your relationship to Jesus Christ. We also ask that children who have not yet publicly professed their faith in Christ refrain from partaking until doing so. The Lord’s Supper is a time for our faith to be strengthened and our hope renewed.
Let Thy Blood in Mercy Poured John Brownlie, 1907 | Parker Adams
Let thy blood in mercy poured, let thy gracious body broken, Be to me, O gracious Lord, of thy boundless love the token.
Thou didst die that I might live; blessed Lord thou came to save me;
All that love of God could give, Jesus by his sorrows gave me.
Chorus:
You gave yourself to me, now I give myself to you.
I worship you most Holy Lord;
Your mercy changed my heart.
Your mercy changed my heart.
By the thorns that crowned thy brow, by the spear wound and the nailing, By the pain and death I now claim, O Christ, thy love unfailing.
Will thou own the gift I bring? All my penitence I give thee;
Thou art my exalted King, of thy matchless love forgive me.

Creation of a Disabilities Ministry We are in the planning stages of starting a disability
ministry at CTK and gathering interest from the congregation. Engaging Disability, an organization
we are working with to get things off the ground, states, “The goal in disability ministry in every church is very simple: we want kids, teens, adults,
and seniors who are impacted by disability to be growing in Christ and genuinely enfolded into the congregation.” If this sounds like something you or your family would want to be a part of, please reach out to Hannah Mosby, Melinda Hanko, or Rachael Sloan. We hope to have an informational meeting in October and are excited to share and brainstorm
with others. Let us know if you’d like to serve our church and community in this way!

ADULT CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
The Poetic Artistry of the Bible
“All Scripture is God-breathed.” So says the Apostle Paul to his young protege in 2 Tim 3.16. One of the
most powerful and prominent ways the Lord chose to “breathe out” his Word is through poetry. And yet, many of us experience the Bible’s poetry with uneasiness rather than delight. Come join us as we take a guided tour of the Bible’s poetry, reading and

MISSIONS MOMENT
Pray for Afghanistan
As the government in Afghanistan is in the process of being overthrown by the Taliban, pray for the spiritual and physical provision of missionaries and
Afghan believers. Pray for those who are sick and for hospitals and health care workers in the country
to be able to continue to provide services. Pray for God to move mightily in the country - calling people
to Himself through the message of the Gospel and binding the evil one who is working against that.
