Here to Help! Accessing Professional Services From Intergraph Canada

Martin Desrosiers, Eastern Canada’s Business Sales Manager for PPM, and Arnold Potic, Eastern Canada’s Service Manager for PPM, discuss the different types of Intergraph professional services offered to our clients.

13:15 - 13:45

3D Design Tool Evaluation Study

SmartPlant has been put to the test in a head-to-head comparison with competing plant design tools by one of our Canadian clients to select the best and most comprehensive design tool on the market for the lifetime of their project. The activity included a very exhaustive checklist of the must-have criteria and the nice-to-have criteria for the design tool. But most importantly, the client needed to see the software in real action by benchmarking the activity of real-time modeling a portion of their plant from scratch. Wael Elyahky , Application Consultant for Intergraph Canada, shows how the SmartPlant suite was able to successfully win the business of this mining focused engineering firm.

13:45 - 14:15

Creating 3D Piping Specs Using SmartPlant Reference Data: Case Study

Chuck Gill, Executive Manager for Technical - Materials Management and Project Controls from Intergraph Corporation, focuses on the increasing need to generate consistent and accurate reference data for 3D design systems. Maintaining consistency, standardization, and revision control within and between projects can often be problematic and often very costly. SmartPlant Reference Data in conjunction with the Standard Database is a pre-configured, recommended best practice solution to enable rapid implementation of enterprise reference data management and/or materials management in general.

14:15 - 14:45

Intergraph Isometric Digital Value Chain for PDS & SP3D

Intergraph’s Digital Isometric Value Chain provides a suite of value-added products to manage pipeline data throughout the plant life cycle. This can start with its initial conception in SmartPlant P&ID, through its physical routing in SmartPlant Layout, detail design in SmartPlant 3D, fabrication requirements in SmartPlant Spoolgen, and modification using SmartPlant Isometrics during operations and maintenance. Stephen Holdaway, Business Development Manager for Intergraph Corporation, expands on the concept and introduces SmartPlant Isometrics, formerly known as I-Sketch™, as he examines how the concept can be used to deliver faster, better, cheaper solutions on small piping projects.

14:45 - 15:00

15:00 - 15:45

Integrated Engineering Design at AECL

Atomic Energy of Canada Limited is one of the longest users of Intergraph design and information management tools. The renaissance of the nuclear power industry has called for new ways to meet the rapidly evolving demands of the market while satisfying the regulatory constraints inherent in the industry. Liviu Vrancea, Manager of Engineering and Project Management Tools at the company, discusses AECL’s deployment of the SmartPlant Enterprise integrated toolset within its business, in addition to its vision, goals, and achievements.

15:45 - 16:30

BREAKOUT SESSION: Engineering & Schematics Product Update / Customer Case Study

This session offers presentations from three industry specialists to demonstrate examples of Intergraph’s engineering and schematic solutions in the production environment. First, Efren Gonzalez, Application Consultant for Intergraph Canada, demonstrates the SmartPlant P&ID custom line list report created for a Canadian customer. Bogdan Pineta, Electrical Project Engineer from AECL, then talks about AECL’s successful implementation of SmartPlant Electrical. Finally, Igor Korokhov discusses the latest product updates for SmartPlant Electrical.

BREAKOUT SESSION: 3D Design for Bulk Materials Handling Systems

By utilizing proven technology from other SmartPlant suite applications, Intergraph is addressing the bulk materials handling industry segment through a new tool to allow designers to standardize and repeat modular conveyor system design in 3D. The data centric models can then be seamlessly rolled into the maintenance and operations environment with SmartPlant® Materials, Meridium and SmartPlant® for Owner / Operators. Taylor Cole, Vice-President of Global Metals and Mining for Intergraph, demonstrates the benefits of this new application to transform traditional design and construction methods.
