Big Lottery Fund - UK Homeshare Pilot
The scheme aims to tackle two of the UK’s most prevalent contemporary issues - the lack of af-fordable housing for young people and the grow-ing number of older people who are lonely or iso-lated. Grants are available to voluntary, commu-nity and statutory organisations for a small num-ber of homeshare initiatives that will strive to place young people that are seeking affordable accommodation into the spare rooms of older people (and others who need support to continue living independently) to ensure that both parties receive independent living at an affordable monthly fee.
Typically, the younger party would additionally pledge approximately 10 hours of companionship and light domestic help (not including personal care) to their host in return.
