This Software Change Notice describes the prerequisites, applicable devices, and steps to install/uninstall the Wyse 5070 Thin Client firmware / image. Additionally, this SCN contains information about the change impact and additional information for this update.

Purpose of this upgrade

ETCR210.1 Patch 3 contains the newly qualified Fabulatech USB Redirection Suite that will be used to redirect the Honeywell qualified USB devices to the Remote Machine. It is an alternate option to TCX USB Redirection Suite, for which the support will end by March 2021.

This upgrade applies to the devices/thin clients specified in the section "Applicable system Components".

Honeywell recommends an upgrade to be completed if an opportunity like for example, Plant shutdown, software upgrade arises. This is to take advantage of the latest features and avoid the

EFORE YOU BEGIN

ETCR210.1 Patch 3 image is qualified with both types of USB Redirection software available for use on this hardware. Devices procured on or before December 2020 will have TCX Client Suite, while devices procured on or after December 2020 will contain a license for Fabulatech USB for Remote Desktop. Refer the associated section based on the license type received with your hardware, and only one type of USB redirection software must be used at a time.

NOTE

The support for TCX Client Suite will end in the future release of the Wyse 5070 image. If you are using thin client hardware with TCX Client Suite, you can procure a Fabulatech upgrade kit for the latest supported solution.

The following are the components required for this procedures. 1. Install 7Zip application on the system.

2. Download and extract theETCR210.1_Patch 3, see the section "Instructions to download the patch" to download.

3. Download and extract theDell Wyse Imaging Tool, see the section "Instructions to download the patch" to download. (Not required if it is downloaded earlier).

4. You must have32 GBfree disk space available, USB flash drive formatted in FAT32 file system. 5. If you have a TCX Server Suite license, then Install TCX Server Suite 7.3 on the remote machine,

see the section "Instructions to download the patch" to download. (Not required if it is downloaded earlier)

6. If you have a Fabulatech Server Suite License, then Install the Fabulatech Server Suite 6.0.6 in the remote machine, see the section "Instructions to download the patch" to download.

2.1

Prerequisite

Flashing this new image erases all the existing saved data (saved RDP file, network settings, FTE, display arrangement, and so on) from Thin Client and reconfigure the same after successful flash of new image. Note down or capture the FTE configuration such as all IP address details, FTE device index configuration from the node, so that it can be reutilized at the time of reconfiguration.

2.2

Instructions to download the patch

If you have aHoneywell Solution Enhancement Support Program (SESP)contract, perform the following steps to get the Wyse 5070 patch:

1. Login towww.honeywellprocess.comwith the appropriate credentials. 2. ClickSupporttab, and type the keywords inSearchbox.

3. Search for Experion-Thin-Client-R210.1-Patch 3-datasheet.pdf

4. Click Product Documents & Downloads tab, a new page opens where the search results are listed.

NOTE

Contact GTAC if you are having troubles downloading the patch. If you do not have a support contract with Honeywell, to get the patch, reach out to the appropriate GTAC support. They will ask for a few details related to your existing operating system or image version of Wyse 5070 and assist you in obtaining the patch if you have procured the thin client from Honeywell.

CONFIGURING

USB FLASH DRIVE AND

UPDATING THE IMAGE

ATTENTION

Honeywell Thin Client image cannot be used on non Honeywell hardwares.

Image update process covers the configuring the USB flash drive by loading the image then flashing the image on thin client.

3.1

Supported operating system for Dell Wyse

3.2

Installing Dell Wyse USB imaging tool

3.2.1

Prerequisites

l A minimum free disk space of 2 GB to download, extract, and install USB imaging tool. l Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 is installed.

3.2.2

Installing Dell Wyse USB firmware tool

Perform the following steps to install Dell Wyse USB firmware tool.

6. Navigate toDell_Wyse_USB_Imaging_Tool_v3.1.0folder, right-click onDell_Wyse_USB_ Imaging_Tool_v3.1.0.exeand selectRun as Administrator.

TheWelcomescreen appears.

7. ClickNext.

TheDefault installation pathwindow appears.

8. ClickNextto start the installation.

9. After the installation, clickExitto close the window.

3.3

Preparing USB Flash drive to flash for Wyse 5070

ATTENTION

Format the USB drive before flashing, since error may occur while flashing if there is any existing image in the USB drive.

3.3.1

Prerequisites

l Dell Wyse USB Imaging tool v3.1.0 application is installed.

l Extracted copy of image fileWIN10_Wyse_5070_Extended_Thin_Client_64GB_0.exe.

o Download the zip files of the patchETCR210.1_Patch3.7z: o ETCR210.1_Patch3.7z.001

3.3.2

Preparing USB flash drive

Perform the following steps to prepare USB flash drive:

1. Connect USB flash drive to the system in which the Dell Wyse USB Imaging tool is installed.

2. Double-click onUSB Imaging Toolshortcut from the Desktop. TheUAC messageappears.

3. ClickYes.

TheDell Wyse USB Image toolwindow appears.

ATTENTION

This step takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. Do not interrupt the process.

10. At the bottom of theImage PushtabSuccessfully configured USB DriveandUSB Drive can be removedmessages appears.

11. Remove USB drive from the system and close theDell Wyse USB Imaging Toolwindow.

3.4

Flashing Honeywell Custom image on Wyse 5070

3.4.1

Prerequisites

If the Admin/BIOS password is changed before, then configure that password asFireporton the thin client to complete the image flash. See the Wyse-5070-Thin-Client-Planning-Installation-and-Service-Guide-HWDOC-X556-enChanging the BIOS password for configuring the BIOS password section.

3.4.2

Flashing the image

Perform the following steps to flash the image:

1. Connect USB drive to thin client USB 2.0 port and Power On. 2. PressF2during the POST to enter System BIOS setup.

3. ClickUnlockbutton, typeFireportin password box and clickOK.

4. Go toSystem Configuration > USB configurationand ensure thatEnable USB Boot Support = Enable.

NOTE

You must disable the USB boot support after the image is restored successfully.

5. Go toSecure Bootand ensure thatSecure Boot enable =Disabled.

NOTE

You must enable Secure boot settings after the image is restored successfully. This step will prevent the thin client to boot from the USB drive.

6. ClickApply.

7. UncheckSave as custom User settings?and clickOK. 8. ClickExit. The system retarts.

9. After system restart, pressF12during the POST to display the one-time Boot Option. 10. Select USB flash drive from theUEFI Boot:option and pressEnter.

13. ClickOK.

ATTENTION This step takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. Do not interrupt the process.

14. Remove the USB drive and click Restart.

ATTENTION

After restart, the thin client continues the post system preparation process, and restarts the thin client multiple times automatically. Do not interrupt the process. It takes approximately 20 minutes to complete the entire process.

15. After installation, verify the image version by performing the following steps. a. On the desktop, double-clickDell Thin Client application.

b. ClickCustom Fields, "Honeywell_Rev_D" will appear in Field-1.

MANUAL INSTALLATION OF

APPLICATIONS

NOTE

l These instructions are also available inWyse 5070 Planning Installation and Service

Guide. This is done to ensure that the manual installation instructions are not missed while configuring patch 3.

l Some components are optional, to be installed depending on your or site’s

requirement

Install the following with the same sequence as described below in this

document.

l Flashing BIOS 1.5.0 on Wyse 5070 l Solid State Device Update

Disable the UWF:

Login with default password forAdminuser asDellCCCvdi

1. From the Admin Desktop double clickDell Wyse WF Disableicon to disable the UWF. 2. Thin Client will reboot and login to User account automatically.

3. Logout fromUserand Login toAdmin account. 4. In taskbar, the color of the circle appearsRed.

thin client in Write Filter disabled state will prematurely wear out your flash and invalidate your warranty” post login . It indicates that you are about to make a change to the system. Changing environmental variables ismandatoryto perform manual installation of the applications. Revert back the environmental variable to original values after all the installation is completed.

Configuring Auto Logon to Admin account

NOTE

There will be many activities that require frequent reboot during installion of different applications. You must configure auto logon toAdminand once the configuration activity is complete, you need to change the auto logon back toUseraccount.

1. On Admin account desktop, double-clickDell Thin Client Application.

2. From the left navigation pane, selectAuto Logon.

3. From the right pane, change the Default User Name field fromUsertoAdmin.

4. Enter the User password in the Default Password field.

5. ClickApply.

To update your changes please restart the systemmessage appears.

6. Restart Thin Client.

7. Thin Client will reboot and login to Admin account automatically.

To verify the Rev D upgrade completion

1. OpenDell Thin clientapplicationfrom the desktop.

2. ClickCustomfield.

3. Verify Custom field #1 is updated withHoneywell_Rev_D. Changing the Environment Variables

1. Right-clickStart > System. TheSystem windowappears.

2. From the Left navigation pane, selectAdvanced System Settings. TheSystem Properties

window will appear.

3. From the Advanced tab, clickEnvironmental Variables. TheEnvironmental Variableswindow appears.

4. From the User variables for Admin section. Select theTEMPand clickEdit. TheEdit User Variableswindow appears.

5. Change the Variable value fromZ:\toC:\and ClickOK.

Chapter 4 - Manual installation of Applications

4.1

Flashing BIOS 1.5.0 on Wyse 5070

ATTENTION

After the image update, you must flash the BIOS 1.5.0 on the Wyse 5070 thin client. DO NOT perform the following steps if the BIOS version is already updated to1.5.0.

Perform the following to flash the BIOS 1.5.0 on Wyse 5070. 1. Login to admin account and make sure Write-Filter is disabled.

NOTEThe administrator default username and password isDellCCCvdi.

2. Navigate toC:\BIOS and run the Wyse_5070_1.5.0.exeas administrator 3. ClickUpdate

4. Once the Updates are loaded, user will be prompted for reboot. 5. Reboot the system for BIOS update to complete.

ATTENTIONAfter restart, the thin client continues the BIOS update process. Once the BIOS update process is complete, it restarts the thin client and log in to the user account.Do not interrupt the process or disconnect the power cord, it takes approximately 5 minutes to complete the process.

Disabling the second NIC adapter in BIOS for a ethernet based network

topology.

If the Honeywell FTE is not configured on Wyse 5070 thin client, then it is recommended to disable second NIC adapter in system BIOS.

Disabling the second NIC

Perform the following steps to disable second NIC:

1. Power On / restart the thin client.

2. PressF2to enter in BIOS setup. 3. ClickUnlock.

The Setup Unlock dialog box appears.

4. Type BIOS passwordFireportand clickOK.

5. Navigate toSystem configuration > 2nd NIC (RJ-45 / SFP), and clickDisabled.

6. ClickApply.

4.2

Solid State Device Firmware Upgrade

NOTE

Skip/ ignore this section if it is already updated to the recommended version.

Login to admin account and make sure Write-Filter is disabled.

1. Run the “cmd.exe” as administrator then navigate to the folderC:\Wyse 5070 Essential Utilities\SSD Update\Windows_SFDM1B4D.

2. EnterSFDM1B4D.exe -ito check the disk firmware information, existing firmware version appears.

3. EnterSFDM1B4D.exe -sfor the silence-install.

4. Once the update is done, enterSFDM1B4D.exe -iagain to check if the firmware is upgraded successfully. New firmware versionSFDM1B4Dappears.

5. Shutdown the system and remove power cord and wait for 10 seconds. Then re-plug the power cord and boot system for firmware reloading.

4.3

Fabulatech USB Redirection Suite for Thin Client

(Optional)

ATTENTION

Honeywell recommends you to use only one redirection tool at a time. Ensure that the Fabulatech Server Suite is installed on the remote machine. SeeWyse 5070 Planning, Installation and Service Guidefor the instructions to install Fabulatech server Suite.

If you are planning to upgrade the redirection tool from TCX to Fabulatech, then ensure that the TCX suite is uninstalled on Thin Client and the Remote Machine.

NOTEFabulatech USB Redirection Suite is required for Operator Entry Panel (OEP), Serial Integrated KeyBoard (Serial IKB) , USB - IKB and Smart card reader.

ATTENTIONDO NOT connect any device that is used for re-direction like IKB/OEP/Smart-Card reader/USB hub and so on. Connect only the standard HID Keyboard and Mouse to the Thin Client during the Fabulatech USB Redirection Suite installation. Connect the rest of the USB devices after the Fabulatech USB Redirection Suite is installed.

Perform the following to install the Fabulatech USB Redirection Suite. 1. Login to admin account and ensure that the Write-Filter is disabled.

2. Navigate to folderC:\Wyse 5070 Essential Utilites\Fabula_Tech_USB_Redirection. 3. OpenCommand Promptwith administrator privileges and run the following command.

usb-for-remote-desktop-workstation-64bit.msi

4. ClickNexton Welcome page.

5. Select the checkbox and clickAccepton the License Agreement and clickNext.

6. Choose Install Location dialog appears, clickNext.

7. Accept theCreate shortcutsoption and clickInstall.

8. UncheckQuick start guide,Updateoption and clickFinish.

4.4

TCX Client Suite (Optional)

ATTENTION

Honeywell recommends you to use only one redirection tool at a time. Ensure that the Fabulatech Server Suite is uninstalled on the remote machine.

ATTENTIONIf you want to install the TCX Client Suite, then it is recommended to install all the three components in the given sequence, failing will lead the system to an unstable state.

ATTENTIONDO NOT connect any device that is used to re-direction like IKB/OEP/Smart-Card reader/USB hub etc. Connect only the standard HID Keyboard and Mouse to the Thin Client during the installation of the TCX Client Suite and associated TCX patches. Connect the rest of the USB devices after TCX Client Suite is installed.

1. Login to admin account and ensure that the Write-Filter is disabled. 2. Navigate to folderC:\Wyse 5070 Essential Utilites\TCX\TCX 7.3.0

3. OpenCommand Promptwith administrator privileges and run the following command.

TCX Client Wyse_TCX_7.3_Client_Suite_64.

4. Acceptand ClickNext, on the End User License Agreement page and ClickInstall.

5. While installing the TCX Client, selectcustom methodand CheckUSBand proceed. 6. Follow the on screen instructions and complete the installation.

7. Reboot the thin client.

8. Login with admin account with Write filer disabled.

9. Navigate toC:\Program files\Wyse\TCX\Client, Create a shortcut of “tcxConfig” on Desktop.

10. Rename the shortcut toWyse TCX Client Suite.

TCX Client 7.3.1 Patch 1

Login to admin account and make sure Write-Filter is disabled.

1. Navigate to folderC:\Wyse 5070 Essential Utilites\TCX\TCX_7.3_Patch1 2. Right Click and select Run as administrator.

3. ClickNexton the End User License Agreement andClick Install.

4. Rebootthe system after patch installation.

TCX Client 7.3.1 Patch 2

EnsureTCX Client 7.3.1 Patch 1is installed before continuing the installation process. Login to admin account and make sure Write-Filter is disabled.

1. Navigate to folderC:\Wyse 5070 Essential Utilites\TCX\TCX_7.3_Patch2. 2. Right Click and select Run as administrator.

3. ClickNexton the End User License Agreement and ClickInstall.

Installing the McAfee AWL (Optional)

Login to admin account and make sure Write-Filter is disabled.

1. Open the command prompt in Run as Admin mode and navigate toC:\Wyse 5070 Essential Utilities\McAfee_SolidCore,

2. Run theMcAfee_Solidcore_Installer.batfile

3. Please wait while install in progress. It will take around 5 mins to complete the installation. Do not disturb until it completes. The cursor will return to command prompt post installation. Please exit from the command prompt.

4. Change the environment variables fromC:\ to Z:\

ReferRestoring the environment variables to original values. 5. Restart the thin client.

6. Login to admin account and open theadmin command promptand navigate toC:\Wyse 5070 Essential Utilities\McAfee_SolidCore.

7. Run theUpdaters_Rev_D.batfile.

NOTE

This activity will strengthen the system and will consume approximate three hours to complete

8. After completing the updates restart the system

9. Login to admin account and openMcAfee command prompt

10. Typesadmin statuscommand. It should showC:\ solidifiedand McAfee SolidifiedEnabledafter the reboot as well.

4.6

Restoring the environment variables to original values.

1. Right-clickStart > System. The System window appears.

2. From the left navigation pane, selectAdvanced System Settings. TheSystem Propertieswindow appears.

3. FromAdvancedtab, clickEnvironmental Variables. TheEnvironmental Variableswindow appears.

4. From theUser variables for Adminsection. SelectTEMPand clickEdit. TheEdit User Variableswindow appears.

5. Change the Variable value fromC:\ to Z:\and clickOK.

6. SelectTMPand clickEdit.

7. Change the Variable value fromC:\ to Z:\and ClickOK.

8. ClickOKin theEnvironmental Variableswindow.

ATTENTION

You must restore the Environmental variables settings back to the original settings to avoid any security and performance related issues in your thin client.

KNOWN ISSUES

PAR Issue

1-BT2VQC0 Abstract

Wyse 5070 display alignment is difficult to set for quad screens and impacts safeview layout.

Description

When thin client is connected in a quad screen monitor configuration, the display orientation configuration window does not snap to fit as expected, resulting in incorrect display x, y co-ordinates being set. This impacts Safeview workspaces as it uses these x,y references.

Fix / Resolution

 No fix.

Workaround

Visual Studio VC++ Runtime error was observed when attempt to configure the 55” display settings.

Description

Visual Studio VC++ Runtime error with the following message pops up when configuring the 55' UHD Samsung monitor.

Program: C\Windows\ImmersiveControlPanel\SystemSettings.exe. The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application support team.

Workaround

Just acknowledge the message. Display settings are saved as per user settings. No impact of this runtime error seen.

1-CBN0J51 Abstract

Thin client loses screen config after monitor power cycle.

Description

After the 55” UHD monitor power is switched off and powered on with the thin client in operation, the UHD monitor may not detect the thin client input, or the monitor arrangement could be misaligned.

Workaround

Restart the thin client as necessary to reinitiate the monitor signal to the UHD monitor. It is not recommended to power cycle the UHD monitor with the thin client in operation.
