Purpose This position will lead the development and implementation of a global marketing and communications plan to drive retention, conversion, growth and creation of lottery and gaming business as part of the Sault Ste. Marie L&G Pursuit project. The VP L&G Marketing and

Communications will work as one of four key members of the LG Pursuit Senior Management team, a group of highly professional executives. Roles and Responsibilities

Pursuit Project Vision Direction and Leadership

 Sets primary framework for communications and marketing strategies, objectives and implements marketing and communications activities.

 Integrates marketing and communications efforts of both business outreach and talent management needs.

 Provides foundation for SSM brand and presence in global marketplace.

Pursuit Project Management and Administration

 Manages senior relationships and negotiations with key communications suppliers

 Develops and implements critical paths and timing schedules for Communications deliverables in the project, including ownership of media planning and production execution

 Develops recommendations to other streams of the pursuit entity (Talent, Innovations, Service Delivery) on synergies and opportunities  Fosters good cooperation and dynamic team work

Stakeholder Communications

 Identifies Stakeholder information needs and designs framework for information flows and vehicles.

 Establishes, owns and drives a strategic internal and external communications strategy that engages stakeholders and external audiences to position Sault Ste. Marie as a hub for lottery and gaming  Assists and integrates key talent messaging based cooperatively with

Project Team VP Talent Management

 Coordinates input from relevant Advisory Groups to manage emerging communications priorities

Operational Governance reporting

 Prepares briefing notes and provides presentations for use by designated spokesperson in government relations

 Leads and organizes communications sessions as needed

Facilitation  Participates in strategic planning sessions with Senior Management Team members

 Provides lead contact on stakeholder communication needs and issues

Market Strategy Branding Development

 Leads Senior Management team members in communications strategy decision-making process and positioning analysis  Generates core branding and positioning alternatives  Directs the development and execution of global marketing

communications initiatives including sales collateral, tradeshows, social media, online presence, website, public relations, internal communication, stakeholder communications and corporate events.  Ensures articulation of entity's desired image and position, assures

consistent communication of image and position throughout communication activities, and delivers communication of image and position to all constituencies, both internal and external.

 Initiates and designs communications research activities as required to refine branding and track program effectiveness.

Supervision  Supervises Promotional and Social Marketing Manager contracted resource

 Manages performance of external supplier contracts for communications activity

Market Research  Designs and manages essential market research projects related to target audience needs, message management or new media campaign effectiveness

 Manages selection and performance value of research suppliers for communications projects

Pursuit Project Governance Integration

 Contributes to Senior Management Team communications and positioning activity.

 Drives continuous process improvements and implements best practices to manage projects efficiently.

Budget and External Supplier Activity

 Tracks budgets as needed to ensure on-budget delivery of contracted services

 Prepares expenditure Workplan and forecasts as needed  Prepares financial summaries and reports as needed  Determines and assigns priority for internal and external

communication projects

 Manages relationships with outside vendors as necessary. Public Relations  Develops and maintains effective relationships with key

 Establishes guidelines and designated roles for spokesperson opportunities

 Ensures Sault Ste. Marie captures significant coverage and awareness in relevant industry media

 Identifies opportunities for speaking engagements at industry-relevant events on topics in support of Pursuit project objectives. Production and

Event Management

 Actively leads, builds and manages external teams including graphics designers, corporate communications specialist, media specialists and copywriters to produce high quality publications and materials on time and within budget.

 Collaborates with Innovations, Services and Talent outreach teams on event planning and support material production

 Develops new Talent Management supply concepts jointly with VP Talent Management

Senior Management Team Project Issues Response

 Responds to all critical issues as part of a coordinated Senior Management Team protocol

 Drives continuous process improvements and implements best practices for efficient project management.

 Experience developing and managing budgets, and hiring, training, developing, supervising and appraising personnel.

preparing financial proposals, managing budget tracking systems and preparing financial forecasts

Experience

 Educational background in Business Management, preferably with a focus on marketing, strategy and communications

 15+ years of experience in the management and design of major market initiatives, market planning and product concept

development

 Private sector experience in lottery and gaming projects and keen understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing this sector  Experience in communicating both verbally and in writing with senior

officials in both the public and private sectors

 Team leadership experience in working with a diverse group of professional and technical staff

 Business and financial administration experience  Contract management experience

 Facilitation and negotiation experience or training
