Huawei NE5000E 400Gbps Flexible Line Processing Unit

Overview

The Huawei NetEngine5000E router (NE5000E) is a high-end IP core network router. It is targeted for Internet backbone networks, IP dedicated backbone networks, or IP metropolitan core networks covering large cities and regions. It can also function as an egress router on the Internet data center (IDC). It is intended for network operators, enterprises, and public institutions.

As the network traffic volume increases, boards of core nodes cannot meet customer demands for higher throughput of network elements. Therefore, Huawei has developed 400G Flexible Card Line Processing Unit (LPUF-400, 2 sub-slots) and 10 GE, 40 GE, and 100 GE flexible cards (CP400) for the LPUF-400. The large capacity meets the bandwidth requirements of operators and intranets, and helps customers conduct cost-effective and personalized capacity expansion.

The LPUF-400 is designed to improve the slot capacity, and provides 400 Gbps line-rate forwarding capacity, and provides two full-height half-width sub-slots. Each sub-slot of LPUF-400 holds one CP400 flexible card. Figure 1-1 shows the appearance of the LPUF-400.

The LPUF-400 supports 4 types of flexible card. Each CP400 flexible card takes one sub-slot of the LPUF-400. It includes the following CP400.

 1-Port 100GBase LAN-CFP flexible card (CP400-1×100GE-CFP, 1 sub-slots). Figure 1-2 showed the appearance of CP400-1×100GE-CFP.

 2-Port 100GBase LAN-CXP flexible card (CP400-2×100GE-CXP, 1 sub-slots). Figure 1-3 showed the appearance of CP400-2×100GE-CXP.

 6-Port 40GBase LAN-QSFP+ flexible card (CP400-6×40GE-QSFP+ 1 sub-slots). Figure 1-4 showed the appearance of CP400-6×40GE-QSFP+.

 20-Port 10Gbase LAN/WAN-SFP+ flexible card (CP400-20×10GE-SFP+, 1 sub-slots). Figure 1-5 showed the appearance of CP400-20×10GE-SFP+.

The initial version of LPUF-400 and its sub-cards is V800R005. Table 1-4 lists the ordering information for the LPUF-400.
