Reducing road atalities

New Car Assessment Programs (NCAP) all over the world and Governments are targeting to reduce road atalities. The automotive industry actively contributes to road saety by developing and evolving technologies that reduce the likelihood or impact o accidents, or example through

improvment o reactive airbag and stabilitiy controll systems. Similarly, new active saety eatures include adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning, where the vehicle acts proactively beore a crash happens.

In an increasingly mobile society, carbon dioxide emissions are rising and ossil uel reserves are dwindling. Meeting increased data security demands

As system complexity increases in cars, so too does the volume o data to be processed and distributed. Automakers thereore need to ensure that inormation is processed securely and protected against external access and manipulation (e.g. car tuning or countereit spare parts). Furthermore, new payment methods, such as parking ees or road tolls, require a secure low o transaction data. Both customer demands and government legislation continue to improve traffic saety. Electric and Electronic Saety Systems play a key role in this trend. Electric power steering is a good example o how a saety application perectly unites with improved uel efficiency and enhanced comort.

Inineon is the broadest supplier with a portolio extending rom intelligent sensors and microcontrollers through auto-motive power standard products and application-speciic standard products (ASSPs) to highly integrated customized application-speciic ICs (ASICs). This comprehensive product portolio – combined with our application expertise gained during our decades o activity in the automotive industry – means we are ideally positioned to help customers overcome their key challenges. These challenges include ongoing application optimization plus the implementation o new eatures to meet stringent saety requirements. The ISO 26262 saety standard is one example o the exacting standards that apply today.

To help customers to efficiently reach the desired Automotive Saety Integrity Level (ASIL) certiication, Inineon has already introduced its own PRO-SIL™ concept. Inineon offers a wide variety o products dedicated to body and interior electronics. These include protected power switches or bulb and motor control, dedicated system basis chips and easy-to-use Hall sensor solutions. Our powerul 16/32-bit XC2200 amily and our low-cost 8-bit XC800 amily deliver all the intelligence required at the heart o today’s automotive body systems.
