SASNA SECRETARY REPORT

July 2020

SUFFOLK AREA will next meet on the 1ST WEDNESDAY of August which is August 5th 8:00

p.m. at Brentwood Presbyterian Church, at the corner of 3rd Ave. & 2nd St. or VIA Zoom.(TBA) According to church policy, children are NOT allowed at SASNA’s monthly meeting.

Serenity Now- Will be meeting in person beginning on July 13th at St Frances Cabrini Church in Coram. The

format will be reading stories from the Basic Text. Masks must be worn and will be provided for anyone that needs them. Mondays 7:30pm-8:30pm

Groups in Need:

New Attitudes- Tuesdays 6:30pm on Zoom The Guiding Light- Saturdays 7pm on Zoom

EVENTS & ACTIVITIES:

If your group or subcommittee is planning a special event, in the spirit of cooperation, it’s a good idea to check the SASNA website or other local NA sites to look for potential date conflicts with other groups or areas. Once you see the date is clear, you can then post your event. *Any group’s event flyers need to be submitted to the

SASNA Insurance Liaison for review a minimum of 3 weeks before if you want the event posted on the Suffolk Area website and to have your flyers distributed at area. Any requests for event insurance or information should be submitted at the same time*

Please make sure to regularly update your contact information with the facility you rent space from so they are able to reach your group if need be. Make sure the facility has more than one (1) group member’s contact info. Please make sure we are being responsible and accountable at all meeting places.

Qualifications: 1 year NA street clean time (equals no use of drug replacement therapy) and 6 months prior area

Responsibilities: Assists the Treasurer with his/her duties at the ASC meeting. Must be present to be nominated

and elected, and must present written and oral statement of qualifications.

SUPPORTING SECRETARY

Qualifications: 1 year NA street clean time (equals no use of drug replacement therapy) and 6 months prior area

service

Responsibilities: Assist the Secretary in all administrative duties. Prepare all forms required at the ASC

meeting and set up the Secretary’s table at the ASC meeting. Up to $25 revolving fund. Must be proficient enough in word processing software to complete the requirements and content of the secretary’s report. Required to attend all ASC meetings. As a member of the Steering Committee, will participate in 24 hour proof reading of the

secretary’s report. Must be present to be nominated and elected, and must present written and oral statement of qualifications.

LITERATURE ORDER SCREENER

Qualifications: 6 months NA street clean time (equals no use of drug replacement therapy) & 6 months prior area

service

Responsibilities: Assists the Treasurer with his/her duties at the ASC meeting. Must be present to be nominated

and elected, and must present written and oral statement of qualifications.

TREASURER RECEIPT ISSUER

Responsible for completing a duplicate receipt for funds received from each group’s Literature Form. One receipt is issued to the GSR and the other is attached to the literature form. Does not handle money.

LITERATURE SALES ASSISTANT

Qualifications: 6 months NA street clean time (equals no use of drug replacement therapy) and no prior area

service

Responsibilities: Assists the Literature Sales Chair with his/her duties at the ASC meeting. Must be present to be

matters. Responsible to hold monthly meetings, to conduct the day to day operations of their Subcommittee, to attend their respective regional meetings, regularly communicate with the ASC Vice-Chair and to provide the ASC with monthly reports.

to reflect that 4,500 meeting lists will be ordered every four months, and to remove the price of the meeting lists from the policy.

Qualifications: 3 years 7 months clean, current commitments: home group chair person, convention committee setup and clean up chair, member of on-line subcommittee, SASNA RCM, member of H&I subcommittee and have held an H&I commitment for over a year. Previous group commitments: Door greeter, Treasure, GSR. I have a sponsor and also make a monthly step group, my support group is diverse and I still make on average 5 meetings a week. All commitments that I have had have been satisfied for the full term of the commitment. I have a

willingness to serve and also like long walks on the beach and warm summer evenings. For: 23 against: 1 abstain:
