How to create KPIs – Pre-requisites

Pre-requisites:

Before you can use the KPI modeler make sure to prepare the following:



Installation and configuration of SAP Smart Business according to the administration guide.



The necessary view(s) in SAP HANA Live including an OData service

o

KPI view: Create a HANA Live query view sap.hba.«vdm»::FirstKPIQuery

that serves as “KPI view” (FirstKPI is just a placeholder name). Alternatively, create a

KPI view sap.hba.r.«vdm»::FirstKPIQuery on top of an existing HANA Live public view.

o

OData service: Create one OData service for all KPI views for a group of KPIs. All KPIs that belong to the same application component are grouped together.

OData services are created with a repository object



The necessary authorizations for KPI modeler and SAP HANA Live

o

KPI Modeler:

PFCG role ‘SAP_SMART_BUSINESS_RUNTIME‘

o

SAP HANA Studio: Create a role that grants the select privilege for the KPI view and the application authorization for the OData service. The role is created

with a repository object and extends the “generic” role ‘SAP_SMART_BUSINESS_RUNTIME’



KPI Code:

Provide full path for KPI code. E.g. sap.hba.test.OverdueMilestone

Semantic Object:

A semantic object must be specified for the KPI, this will be used for the navigation targets The semantic

object must be the name in the global field catalog of the KPI measure, e.g. DaySalesOutstanding.

Improvement Direction:

Indicates which kind of value of KPI is meaningful for application (Maximizing/Minimizing/Target)

Odata Path:

Path of the XSODATA service file /sap/hba/r/«vdm»/odata/«group»/<kpi.xsodata>/<FirstQueryKPIResults>

Query Source:

Provide relative path of the CalcView. e.g. /sap/hba/«vdm»/<FirstKPIQuery>

Dimension:

Not required for KPIs expect for KPIs with Visualization of ‘Area Chart’. This is necessary for the report tiles.

Unit:

Select from drop-down, if you have access to SAP_ECC schema.

Example:

If your KPI is a maximizing KPI and expected value is 15, provide tolerance low as 10 and Deviation low as 20.
