Thank you for using the FRAP

The mechanism of certificate management used for

Windows® Vista has been changed from that of earlier

Windows® consequently, you might encounter problems when

you acquire or renew certificates with Windows® Vista.

This document provides information on the operations that are

necessary to acquire or renew certificates in a Windows® Vista

environment with Internet Explorer8 (IE8) installed.

< Confirm the ActiveX® control setting >

To begin with, confirm the ActiveX® control setting by the following procedure.

(1) Open your web browser

(2) Select [Tools]-[Manage Add-ons]-[Enable or Disable Add-ons] The “Manage Add-ons” dialog box is displayed (Figure 1).

If the add-on ”X509 Enrollment Web Class Factory” is displayed.

Click and select the add-on named “X509 Enrollment Web Class Factory.”(1)

Select “Enable” under” Settings if “Disable” is selected. “(2)

*When “Enable” has already been selected, there is no need to operate it.

Click “OK” and close the dialog box. (3)

If the add-on “X509 Enrollment Web Class Factory” is not displayed, there is no need to operation on this section.

Set up the security level and register FRAP Certificate Issuing Service Site to the“Trusted sites” in Internet Explorer 7.

Please proceed with the procedures below.

(1) Open Internet Explorer 7, and select [Tools] > [Internet Options]. (Figure 3)

(2) Select the [Security] tab from the displayed [Internet Options] dialog box (1)

(3) Select [Trusted sites] under the [Security] tab (2)

(4) If [Medium] is not displayed under the [Security Level for the zone], move the slide-bar with your mouse to set the security level to [Medium] (3)

< Registration for“Trusted sites”>

The steps for registering FRAP Certificate Issuing Service Site to the “Trusted sites” in Internet Explorer 7.

Please proceed with the procedures below.

(1) Open Internet Explorer 7, and select [Tools] > [Internet Options]. (Figure 3)

(2) Select the [Security] tab from the displayed [Internet Options] dialog box (1)

(3) Select [Trusted sites] under the [Security] tab (2)

(4)Click the [Sites] button (4). The ‘Trusted sites’ windows will open. (Figure 4)

the zone:] in the [Trusted sites] windows - (1), and click [Add]-(2) (Figure 5)

(6) Upon confirming that the above URL is displayed under the [Websites:], close the [Trusted sites] window and click [OK] at the [Internet options] dialog box.

This is end of setting about Registration for “Trusted sites”.

Please click the URL stated in the message entitled [Request to acquire certificate] and

proceed with the acquiring or renewing procedures of the certificate.

If you attempt to a quire certificates using Internet Explorer 8 on Windows® Vista without first performing the preparation procedures,

an error message may appear as shown in Figure 6. If this appears,

certificates cannot be acquired, even if you attempt to re-do the procedures. In such case, please ask an administrator to re-issue the certificate.

< Operations to acquire and renew

certificates >

< Acquiring or renewing procedure >

Acquire and renew certificates by following the procedure below.

(1) After you click on the URL provided in the e-mail entitled “Acquiring certificates, “the Information Bar “dialog box might be displayed according to setting of your personal computer (Figure 6)

In this case, please click “Close” button, and advance the operation according to the procedure that guides as below.

When “Issuing a User Certificate” or “Renewing User Certificate” screen is displayed without displaying “Information Bar” dialog, there is no need to operate as following below.

Please advance the operation of acquire or renew certificate according to the instruction of the screen.

(2) Click the “information Bar,” and select “Execute ActiveX Control.” (Figure 7)

(4) The operations related to ActiveX® control are now complete. The screen for performing operations to acquire and renew certificate is displayed.

Follow the instructions on the screen (Figure 9)

< Appendix >

< Confirm the TLS-option setting >

Confirm the TLS-option setting by the following procedure.

(1) Open Internet Explorer 8, and select [Tools] > [Internet Options].

(2) Select the [Advanced] tab from the displayed [Internet Options] dialog box .

(3) To enable TLS in Internet Explorer, check the "Use TLS X.X" box on the [Advanced] tab

If the "Use TLS X.X" box is checked , there is no need to operation on this section.
