Co-Host Welcome Messages
Mark Dietrich
President and CEO, Compute Canada
“Each of our communities relies on and benefits from world-class digital infrastructure and technical expertise. Much of the excellent research Compute Canada supports begins in the universities that make up CUCCIO’s membership. Hosting a joint event gives us the chance to further strengthen the existing collaborations between our two communities, and will expose attendees to a more diverse and impressive exchange of ideas and opportunities.”
Brian Stewart
Services & Technology, University of Alberta
“As one of Canada’s leading research and higher education institutions, the University of Alberta is pleased to host CANHEIT and HPCS on our campus for a week of engaging discussion and a showcase of Canada’s leadership and innovation in the digital infrastructure landscape.”Lori MacMullen
Executive Director, CUCCIO
“The heart of CANHEIT is always the program and the calibre of speakers and panelists. We are thrilled to partner with Compute Canada in 2016 to deliver content that will meet our shared needs and objectives – including sessions on the most topical themes in higher ed IT today, from cloud computing to security, big data, shared services and more.”

It is a gateway to the Northern Rockies and a dynamic urban centre, home to a vibrant arts scene, strong business community, and growing population. Edmonton is the major economic hub for northern and central Alberta and a major centre for the oil and gas industry. Much of the growth in technology sectors is due to Edmonton’s reputation as one of Canada’s premier research and education centres. Edmonton is also home to North America’s largest mall, West Edmonton Mall, and Canada’s longest stretch of connected urban parkland, via the city’s river valley.
University of Alberta
The University of Alberta in Edmonton is one of Canada’s top teaching and research universities, with an
international reputation for excellence across the humanities, sciences, creative arts, business, engineering, and health sciences.
