1 Indeed, I took all this to heart and explained it all: The righteous, the wise, and their works are in God’s hands. People don’t know whether to expect love or hate. Everything lies ahead of them.

2 Everything is the same for everyone: There is one fate for the righteous and the wicked, for the good and the bad, for the clean and the unclean, for the one who sacrifices and the one who does not sacrifice. As it is for the good, so also it is for the sinner; as it is for the one who takes an oath, so also for the one who fears an oath.

3 This is an evil in all that is done under the sun: there is one fate for everyone. In addition, the hearts of people are full of evil, and madness is in their hearts while they live; after that they go to the dead.

4 But there is hope for whoever is joined with all the living, since a live dog is better than a dead lion.

5 For the living know that they will die, but the dead don’t know anything. There is no longer a reward for them because the memory of them is forgotten.

6 Their love, their hate, and their envy have already disappeared, and there is no longer a portion for them in all that is done under the sun.

7 Go, eat your bread with pleasure, and drink your wine with a cheerful heart, for God has already accepted your works.

8 Let your clothes be white all the time, and never let oil be lacking on your head.

9 Enjoy life with the wife you love all the days of your fleeting life, which has been given to you under the sun, all your fleeting days. For that is your portion in life and in your struggle under the sun.

10 Whatever your hands find to do, do with all your strength, because there is no work, planning, knowledge, or wisdom in Sheol where you are going.

God’s Word - Devoted to Him

Choose any life but the life of God and heaven, and you choose death,

for death is nothing else but the loss of the life of God.

William Law An Exchanged Life

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.

The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20

The Christian life is an exchanged life: Jesus' life for your life. When Christ takes control, your life takes on dimensions you would never have known apart from Him. When you are weak, then Christ demonstrates His strength in your life (2 Cor. 12:9—10). When you face situations that are beyond your comprehension, you have only to ask, and the infinite wisdom of God is available to you (James 1:5). When you are faced with humanly impossible situations, God does the impossible (Luke 18:27). When you encounter people whom you find difficult to love, God expresses His unconditional love through you (1 John 4:7). When you are at a loss as to what you should pray for someone, the Spirit will guide you in your prayer life (Rom. 8:16). When Christ takes up residence in the life of a believer, “all the fullness of God” is available to that person (Eph. 3:19).

It is marvelously freeing to know that God controls your life and knows what it can become. Rather than constantly worrying about what you will face, your great challenge is to continually release every area of your life to God's control. The temptation will be to try to do by yourself what only God can do. Our assignment is to “abide in the vine” and to allow God to do in and through us what only He can do (John 15:5). Only God can be God. Allow Him to live

out His divine life through you. He is the only One who can.

The occasion of our giving

“...I have given to the house of my God...my own special treasure...Then the leaders...the captains...with the officers

over the kings’ work, offered willingly. 1 Chron. 29:2-9 The proper order of our giving is a vital principle to victory. Note who led the way in giving. The people? No. The leadership? No. King David himself, the leader. David said,

“I have given my own special treasure of gold and silver” (1 Chr. 29:3). What led David to give so liberally and sacrificially? He had ‘set his affection upon the house of his God.” He had devoted his heart to it.

David did not simply give his personal time. There are a lot of leaders who do that. Nor did David simply give of his personal talent. Still other leaders do this. David gave of his personal treasure for the construction of the temple and it was over and above his regular giving. Note the order of the giving. First, David gave. Then the leadership gave. Then the people gave.

Examples are vitally important. Here we see David setting the example. He is practicing what Gideon preached when he said to his men, “Do as I do.” It is the same principle Paul would use later when he wrote to the Philippians and said,

“The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you” (Phil. 4:9). It was the same principle Paul used when he wrote the Corinthian church saying, “Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ” (I Cor.11:1).

Sometimes I forget that I don't have all the answers. I am surrounded by "the answers". It is so easy to pull out my phone and google anything that I don't know the answer to. It is even easier to say "Here Siri, who is ____?" or "Hey Alexa, what is ____?".

Often times we lose sight of what really matters. We can find out the latest news, keep track of the scores to our favorite teams, and even be the first ones to know what new movie or show is coming to Disney+. But that information is fleeting. It only leaves us thirsting for more. It can even feed our addiction to be "in the know".

How about this truth: you are a child of God.

I don't know about you, but I have the hardest time with the simplest truths. It is easy to forget and look past the beautiful and simple truth that I am God's child.

Here's my encouragement for you: Truth > Information

Stop running the rat race. Get off the hamster wheel. Stop finding out information and start getting to know truth. Truth is found in a person, and His name is Jesus, and He loves you so much that He calls you His child. Here's the proof:

John 1:12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.

That's who God says you are. Do you believe Him?

Believe it, Josh Lane 1wordbrand.com
