Mrs. Cole called the meeting to order at 7:06 P.M. via Zoom. Present were: Mrs. Cole, Mr. Cheung, Mr. Wassel, Mrs. Dolowich, Mrs. Cinquemani, Mrs. Medina and Mr. Truncale (Counsel) by phone.

Mrs. Jacobson was absent with prior notice.

II. MINUTES.

A. On a motion made by Mr. Wassel and seconded by Mrs. Dolowich, the minutes of the March 9, 2021, the Board agreed to amend the minutes to reflect the days of the month that the Library was closed due to inclement weather.

B. On a motion made by Mr. Wassel and seconded by Mrs. Cole, the minutes of the March 10, 2021, Special Board meeting were accepted as presented.

C. On a motion made by Mr. Wassel and seconded by Mr. Cheung, the minutes of the March 24, 2021, Special Board meeting were accepted as presented.

III. PUBLIC HEARING.

There is a 3-minute time limit per individual in each period.

IV. DIRECTOR’ S REPORT.

Mrs. Cinquemani gave her report.

JPL Programs. Please see our newsletter filled with virtual library programs and services for patrons of all ages. In March we served 189 children and caregivers, 26 teens and 1040 adults.

Local History. To celebrate “Women’s History Month” our display features some important ladies of the Jericho Community: 1) Ruth Lang, the founding force in the creation of the library and served for many years on the Board of Trustees, 2) Florence Irving, who served on the first Library Board, later as Presi-dent and continued as trustee for a total of 27 years, 3) Dorothy Mills, Dottie our first Director/Librarian from 1965 to 1982, 4) Jericho Post Office includes Kathe-rine Freeman Trukafka who served from 1935 to 1953 and Signe Hopp Halleran who served from 1954 to 1972, the first 2 female Postmasters in Jericho, 5) Jeri-cho Quaker Meeting, Amy Kirby Post, abolitionist and prison reformer among many other accomplishments, and 6) Kathryn Abbe, professional photographer and Clerk of the Quaker Meeting for 25 years.

State Report. The 2020 State Report has been completed and submitted. This in-cludes all Jericho Library data required by New York State.

Virtual Program Disclaimer. Mrs. Cinquemani would like to update our web site disclaimer for virtual programs.

Jericho Public Library strives to create respectful and family-friendly virtual experi-ences using Zoom. Please do not share any Zoom links. You must be registered to be admitted to the Zoom programs. In order to facilitate presentations, a library staff member will co-host. The host may or may not, at their discretion, enable visual and chat participation. We ask that all participants in library programs via Zoom be mind-ful and polite. Guests who are disruptive or otherwise do not conduct themselves in a respectful manner may be removed from a Zoom meeting.

The Library makes no warranties and/or representations concerning virtual pro-grams. Your decision to participate in the programs is an express consent on your part to waive any and all claims against the Library which may result from said partic-ipation and hereby release and discharge the Jericho Public Library from any and all liabilities.

Window & Theater Chair Replacement. The last Jericho Public Library renova-tion was in 1988. Leaky windows and doors need to be replaced and our theater also needs updating. Mrs. Cinquemani presented the Board with additional infor-mation regarding the scope of the project.

Authorizations for Payment were individually examined and approved for pay-ment as follows:

B. Window Replacement. On a motion made by Mrs. Cole and seconded by Mrs. Dolowich the Board approved proceeding with the window replacement.

A. On a motion made by Mrs. Cole and seconded by Mrs. Dolowich, the Board approved the appointment of Arlene Palmieri, Clerk P/T, at 15.86 per hour, ef-fective 4/14/2021.

A. 2020 State Report. On a motion made by Mrs. Cole and seconded Mr. Wassel the Board approved the 2020 State Report.
