7 1.6 BEFORE CONFIGURING YOUR COMPUTER
When you configure your computer system settings for university use, it may very well create problems when you again try to hook your computer up to a non-university network.
Please, therefore, make thorough and accurate notes of your non-school system settings so that you can re-create your network without any problems.
The university cannot take responsibility for helping to fix your non-school system settings.
1.7 COMPUTER SECURITY AND VIRUS PREVENTION
Please be sure to take at least the following steps in doing your part to maintain University Network security.
・ Please make sure you regularly update your software.
・ Please install the appropriate anti-virus software on your computer.
・ Always make sure to download the latest virus pattern files.
Please note:
To insure that your virus prevention software is actually functioning, please check for any expiration dates.
If University Network security detects that your computer has a virus, your connection with the university system will be automatically severed.

If you have completed all steps successfully, your computer will be able to connect to the Local University Network.
Your Status should read Connected. (See 2.6.1)
If, at this point, you are unable to connect to the World Wide Web, the problem probably lies with the Web Proxy settings.
Go back to the beginning of step 2.4 and redo SETTING UP PROXIES.
2.7 WHEN USING YOUR COMPUTER FROM AN OFF-CAMPUS LOCATION
It is important to note that the internet configuration described in this manual only applies to on- campus operation.
When connecting to the internet with your computer from off-campus, change the setting on the Location menu from KGWiFi to whatever selection is appropriate.
(In most circumstances, the default setting will work.)

21 STEP 3: ONLINE DATA STORAGE
The university provides virtual online drives which can be accessed from both on- and off- campus.
For off-campus access, log on to Information System Web Service
(https://webmail.kwansei.ac.jp). Then click the button of the drive you wish to open.
For specific instructions on using this system from Nishinomiya Seiwa Campus, please go to the Information media Office, Nishinomiya-Seiwa Branch.
3.1 SHARED ONLINE DATA STORAGE (DRIVES X, Y, AND M) Drive M
Contains educational materials and research data.
Housed at the Kobe-Sanda Campus.
All users can download data and execute programs in Drive M
However, only teachers can upload data and delete data from Drive M.
Drive X
Contains educational materials and research data.
This drive can also be used for temporary storage of your documents.
All users can download data, execute programs, upload data, and delete data in Drive X.
The System Administrator reserves the right to delete documents for purposes such as freeing up space.
Major disk-cleanings sessions occur throughout the year, especially at the end of both the spring and fall semesters.
Drive Y
Contains educational materials and research data.
Housed at the Nishinomiya-Uegahara Campus.
All users can download data and execute programs in Drive Y. But only teachers can upload data and delete data. Teachers can do this in the Drive Y Teachers folder.
22 3.2 YOUR ONLINE DATA STORAGE (DRIVE Z)
The university provides another online data storage virtual drive, Drive Z, for users to store their personal documents.
Drive Z goes by the name “My Documents” on all classroom computers operated by the university.
Each user has his or her own personal Drive Z (a.k.a., My Documents) account.
Each of these accounts are private and cannot be accessed by anyone except the authorized user.
Backing up your files to Drive Z is recommended for the following reasons:
・ If anything should happen to your personally-owned computer, you will still have a copy of every file you backed up on Drive Z.
・ You can access Drive Z through a function called Web Folder in the Information System Web Service. In this way, by simply using a compatible web browser, you can access the data you have stored in Drive Z from anywhere in the world.
3.3 SETTING UP SHARED ONLINE DATA STORAGE (DRIVES M, X, AND Y) 1) Select Connect to Server... from the Go menu in the menu bar of the finder.
