SPIRITUAL BOUQUETFOR NICHOLAS BAUMGARDNER In preparation for the ordination to the priest- hood of Deacon Nicholas Baumgardner, I encour- age and invite each parish family to offer a

“Spiritual Bouquet” for Deacon Nick. A spiritual

bouquet is a gift of prayer(s): i.e. Mass(es) offered, Rosary or prayers prayed once or for a series of days, weeks, or months. These prayers of sacrifices will be gathered and put together in a decorative folder and giv- en to Fr. Nick on the occasion of his priesthood. I ask that you drop off spiritual bouquets to the parish office by May first.

PALM SUNDAY

Palm Sunday is just two weeks away. It is time to head for your closets and pull out your red clothing - think “Badgers.” I heard one parishioner has bought red cloth for a new dress. Please prayerfully consider wearing something Red to church to help us celebrate this special Palm Sunday weekend liturgy. Palm Sunday is on the weekend is April 13th & 14th.

PARISH MISSION - THE FIRST WORDSOF CHRIST

Our Parish Mission has ended and now we are invited to be ever more committed to Jesus Christ.

As Fr. Juniper has said and reminded us in his first talk: The Time is Now. May we allow Jesus to use us ever more faithfully to continue the building of God’s Kingdom.

I would like to thank the many people who helped prepare for the Parish Mission: Christian Women who hosted our Sunday night reception, Karen and cantors who sang each evening, the transportation who picked up and dropped off Father at the airport, those involved in advertising, as well as those who prepared dinners and food while he was here. And for each of you who made the effort to give some of your time to partake in the mis- sion. May God continue to bless us all for our efforts made.

EASTER CELEBRATIONS

Looking ahead to our Easter celebrations, we will have three (3) Masses:

Holy Saturday night beginning at 8:00pm and Easter Sunday at 8:30am and 10:30am. The two Masses on Sunday have been overflowing so I am inviting you each to prayerfully consider joining us for the spiritually awe- some Holy Saturday Vigil Mass.

This Week’s Sanctuary Candle &

Tabernacle Candles are lit for

office. Cost: $3/candle.

are available for purchase in the parish office. The cost is $3.00/each.

Mass Intentions

Jesus, you are the Good Shepherd. You know each of us and you call us by name to serve in faith. Help us to respond generously to your voice. Give courage and guidance to those you call to the priesthood and diaconate, to religious life and lay ministry, so they may respond wholeheartedly and serve devotedly.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen Please pray especially for:

Well-known Catholic theologian Dr. Scott Hahn explains Christ's Paschal Sacrifice on the cross as the fulfillment of the traditional fourth cup used in the celebration of the Jew- ish Passover meal. He draws a symbolic parallel to the Last Supper and Christ's death on Calvary. Through his scholarly insights and important biblical connections, Mass will come alive for you as never before!

Yesterday our Forensics team headed off to state competition. This year, all our team members qualified to compete at the state level. I wish all our middle schoolers would take advantage of this opportunity to polish their public speaking skills. One thing that the high schools tell us is that students need to be willing and able to speak in public. Gone are the days of students sitting in the back row, flying under the radar of the teacher. Students are expected to work in groups, present their ideas clearly to others and act as advocates for their own learning.

Forensics (public speaking competition) is a great way to practice all these skills. Students may choose from a wide variety of dif- ferent categories – there is really something for everyone. Some of our students this year have chosen to present a prose piece, reading from a script.

Others have memorized a piece, and there is even one student who is participating in the story telling competition. Regardless of what category they have chosen, these students are learning how to communicate to and in front of a group. I can’t wait to see how this talented group fares in their com- petition. I am so grateful to their coaches, our ELA teacher Emily Wisniewski, and parent Cheryl Goldring. They have provided countless hours of coaching.

Please join me in praying for these competitors as they conclude their season. I know that they will represent our school well!

In addition to the Novena to The Divine Mercy, which Our Lord gave to St.

Maria Faustina, He revealed to her a powerful prayer that He wanted everyone to pray - the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. The Chaplet can be said anytime but the Lord specifically asked that it be recited as a novena, especially on the nine days before the Feast of Mercy starting Good Friday April 19th until Divine Mercy Sunday, promising extraordinary graces to those who would recite this special prayer. As the church celebrates Divine Mercy Sunday on April 27th & 28th, all are invited to join us as the Divine Mercy Chaplet will be recited in church after ALL Masses that weekend.

The chaplet will also be recited after the Daily Masses on Monday, April 22nd through Saturday, April 27th. All are welcome to join us.

Remember you are a big part of this vast 40 Days for Life campaign. As it ends on April 14th, let’s pray especially

for the sidewalk counselors who have the last few minutes to talk to these moms before they stop their babies’ chance at life. They are our spiritual tools that are being used through our prayers to save these babies.

Thank you, Jesus, for this Divine intervention.

The Respect Life Committee Daily Prayer during the Forty Days for Life

Lord in Your name, let me this day remember in prayer the babies all over the world that will die by abortion. May you hold them close to you. Each one is your special gift. I offer my day today, along with all the other Christians who are participating in these 40 days, that my prayers and sacrifices today would help save a baby from death. This I ask in the precious name of Jesus. Amen

SAFETY RULES BEAR REPEATING

Research reminds us that teaching children how to resist the overtures of a potential molester requires repetition and reinforcement. Children and young people need to know the rules, and they need to hear them over and over and over again so that the rules become part of a thought process. This is done in the same way we teach the rules about looking both ways before crossing the street and the danger of getting too close to an open flame. Empowering children to speak up and resist the overtures of potential molesters can stop a child molester in his or her tracks.

Molesters who fear being caught - and being labeled a molester - may decide it is not worth the risk and back off. y

We welcome the following who will be baptized this

Sunday into our parish community:
