PULPIT ANNOUNCEMENTS 31
stSunday in Ordinary Time
October 31, 2021
Welcome to all who are here to worship with us.
Today is the 31
stSunday in Ordinary Time. Whoever you may be, or wherever you find yourself on the journey, know that here at St. Matthias,
All Are Welcome.
The St. Martin de Porres Society is collecting items next weekend in the Reconciliation Room for Great Expectations and the Ronald McDonald House after all Masses. Great Expectations items needed include newborn baby diapers, clothing, rattles, teethers and bottles, and especially Target and Walmart gift cards. The Ronald McDonald House needs include laundry detergent, Cascade dishwasher liquid, shower curtains, dish towels and pot holders.
The altar is rarely adorned at this time of year at St. Matthias so beautifully expect for one special reason - the annual All Souls Mass of Remembrance, honoring all the deceased community members from the past year. This special Mass will be tomorrow/today at 5:00 PM. ALL ARE WELCOME to attend and to remember and celebrate those we have lost during the past year.
Next Saturday, November 6th, the St. Martin de Porres Society will celebrate the Feast of St. Martin de Porres at the 5:00 Mass and the start of National Black Catholic History Month. Additionally, the St. Matthias Racial Justice Initiative will also be introduced by members of its core group at the 5:00 Mass. The vision of the initiative is TO GUIDE OUR PARISH COMMUNITY TOWARDS BECOMING A RECOGNIZABLE, INSPIRED MODEL OF RACIAL HARMONY AND JUSTICE, ROOTED IN OUR SHARED CATHOLIC SOCIAL TEACHING AND FAITH. We welcome all who want to join this effort to pray and act together and are seeking additional core group members. Brochures about the initiative are available in the breezeway after each Mass this weekend and next.
It’s still not too late to register for the November 13th Vocations Ministry Morning of Reflection from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. A link to sign up is in the bulletin on page 7 and on the parish website, and fliers are available at all doors here in the church.
Finally, CALLING ALL OUTDOORSMEN AND WOMEN!!! It’s time to put on your work jeans and a jacket, grab your gloves, mittens, scarves, earmuffs and hats. Get ready to help put up the Christmas trees for “Spreading the Light.” Volunteers are needed on Saturday, November 20th to move trees from the delivery truck and attach them to posts, and then again on Saturday, November 27th, at 10 am to hang lights. If you can volunteer for either (or both) Saturdays, please email the Parish Office Business Manager, Mary Pat Burke-Grospin, at the email address on page 9 of the bulletin.
Now, let us all quiet our hearts and
minds as we prepare for today’s liturgy.
Music for Our Assembly
October 31, 2021 - 31st Sunday of Ordinary Time
Forsake me not, O Lord, my God; be not far from me! Make haste and come to my help, O Lord, my strong salvation
Entrance Hymn- Gather us In
Here in this place new light is streaming. Now is the darkness vanished away.
See in this space our fears and our dreamings;
brought here to you in the light of this day.
Gather us in' the lost and forsaken. Gather us in' the blind and the lame.
Call to us now, and we shall awaken. We shall arise at the sound of our name.
We are the young' our lives are a myst'ry. We are the old' who yearn for your face.
We have been sung throughout all of hist'ry;
called to be light to the whole human race.
Gather us in' the rich and the haughty. Gather us in' the proud and the strong.
Give us a heart so meek and so lowly. Give us the courage to enter the song.

Communion Hymn -Ubi Caritas Refrain
Ubi caritas est vera, est vera: Deus ibi est, Deus ibi est.
The love of Christ joins us together. Let us rejoice in him, and in our love and care for all now love God in return. Refrain
In true communion let us gather. May all divisions cease and in their place be Christ the Lord, our risen Prince of Peace. Refrain
May we who gather at this table to share the bread of life become a sacrament of love, your healing touch, O Christ. Refrain
For those in need make us your mercy, for those oppressed, your might. Make us, your Church, a holy sign of justice and new life. Refrain
May we one day behold your glory and see you face to face, rejoicing with the saints of God to sing eternal praise. Refrain

Closing Hymn - O God Beyond All Praising
O God beyond all praising, we worship you today and sing the love amazing that songs cannot repay;
for we can only wonder at ev’ry gift you send,
at blessings without number and mercies without end.
We lift our hearts before you and wait upon your word;
we honor and adore you, our great and mighty Lord.
Then hear, O gracious Savior, accept the love we bring, that we who know your favor may serve you as our King;
and whether our tomorrows be filled with good or ill,
we’ll triumph through our sorrows and rise to bless you still, to marvel at your beauty and glory in you ways,
and make a joyful duty our sacrifice of praise.
