Where Learning & Wellbeing Matter TERM 3, WEEK 8 - 3 SEPTEMBER 2021

IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER

SEPTEMBER:

Sunday, 5th Father’s Day

Monday, 5th - Friday, 10th National eSmart Week

Thursday, 9th R U OK Day

TERM 3:

12 JULY - 17 SEPTEMBER

Australian Teacher Aide Appreciation Week

This week we acknowledge the wonderful work carried out by our Support Staff. At St Paul’s we are blessed to have six dedicated Learning Support Officers (LSO) Jo, Laura, Sharon, Michelle, Christine and Georgia. Our LSO’s are committed to helping all of our students achieve success academically and emotionally. Their genuine patience, understanding and willingness to support our children is greatly appreciated, particularly during challenging times. We could not provide onsite learning if it wasn’t for our wonderful LSO’s.On behalf of the school community I would

like to take this opportunity to say

This Sunday we remember and give thanks to all the wonderful dads and father figures in our school community. We are saddened that we can’t celebrate as a school community at our annual Father’s Day breakfast. While we are still in lockdown, there is so much we can't do. However, there is so much more to the day that will make it memorable; spending time with your children and connecting with extended family and loved ones in any way you can, will make the day extra special. We look forward to 2022 and being able to celebrate this very special occasion in our school community once again.

THANK YOU Jo

Laura, Sharon, Michelle, Christine Georgia.

Self-Care September

Self-care isn't selfish, it's essential. This month we're encouraging everyone to be kinder to themselves (as well as others), especially when things go wrong. Self-care increases our resilience and helps us get more out of life. It also helps us accept others as they are too.

NAPLAN

In the midst of news that our lockdown would be prolonged, we received our 2021 NAPLAN results this week. Congratulations to our Year 3 and Year 5 students. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, lockdowns and remote schooling, our students maintained their learning growth. We are very proud of our Year 3 and Year 5 students for their achievements in these tests – it shows just how hard they’re working with their teachers and parents to improve their literacy and numeracy skills.

Thank you for all your efforts, dedication and persistence in ensuring our students continued to receive the very best over the past 18 months of their schooling and for working in partnership with us.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Sophia L - 30th August Elyssa D S 1st Septembe r Have a wonderful weekend,

My dad is also very sweet; he often makes jokes, though they aren't always hilarious, which is why I absolutely love him.

Learning Intention: We are learning to make a jump game Success Criteria: we will be successful when we code:

-one sprite that can jump

-scrolling obstacles for the sprite to jump over

-obstacles disappear when they reach the end of the screen

-conditionals: if the sprite touches obstacle there is a lose screen and sound -score increase when obstacles are jumped successfully

-checkpoints or levels where the game gets harder, including a level up screen -end screen

This week in our Coding classes, we began making a jump game. The students had lots of ideas regarding what would make a successful jump game. Using these ideas, we co-created the success criteria. This is a LOT to code so we still have a bit to go before this game is completed. Click on the videos (you will need to use your student account) to see where we are up to (note: each class is up to coding different point in the lesson).

Some students have even used their learning from previous sessions to create their own

characters and add dialogue!!
