Welcome

On behalf of Judo Australian Capital Territory (ACT) we would like to invite you to the 2021 Canberra International Open, being held 17 to 18 April 2021.

Venue

Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), Leverrier St, Bruce Canberra. Basketball and Netball Centre.

Eligibility

All Australian players must be financial members of a Judo Australia (JA) member State or Territory. All International players must be International Judo Federation (IJF) affiliated and organise their own visa.

Rules

• The Tournament will be run in accordance with the JA Sporting Code. • The IJF Refereeing Rules will be applied.

• The JA 2019 Rules Amendments for Junior Boys and Girls will be applied. Approved exceptions to the JA Sporting Code for this Tournament include:

• Minimum grade levels. A minimum grade of 4th kyu (Orange Belt) is required.

Judogi Control

• Blue and white Judogis shall be worn in all divisions.

• Cadet, Junior and Senior competitors are to ensure that their Judogi complies with the Judogi

rules as perattachment 11 in the JA Sporting Code.

Draw

The draw for all divisions will be conducted on completion of the official weigh-ins.

Subject to entries, Event Management may apply absolute discretion to combine divisions, not run divisions, or use a pools system.

NOTE: The Australian National Points Table will be used to seed the Cadet, Junior and Senior

competitors. Maximum separation by State and Clubs will be applied to the Boys and Girls divisions where possible.

Due to COVID constraints, competitors will only be able to enter the venue for the session they are competing in eg. Senior Boys and Girls will only be allowed in the venue for session 1 and not allowed into the venue for session 2 unless they have a spectator ticket.

Ticketing and Spectators

To ensure COVID requirements, a limited number of spectator tickets are now available for sale and purchase for specific competition sessions. www.revolutionise.com.au/judoact/

Entry on the day will only be allowed with the presentation of a paid invoice of a spectator ticket. No tickets can be purchased at the door.

Spectators will only be able to access designated seating areas within the venue and will not be allowed in the competition or warm up areas.

Insurance

All JA State and Territory associations are responsible for ensuring that their competitors, officials, and volunteers are covered by all relevant insurances through JA or other appropriate insurance arrangements as sanctioned by JA. All international competitors and officials must also ensure they hold appropriate insurance coverage for the event.

It is the responsibility of the individual to ensure that in addition to the normal insurance, they have sufficient insurance in place to cover any COVID-19-related costs. The organiser of the event accepts no liability for any claims relating to cancellation of the event due to COVID-19 or medical costs for any COVID-19 related illness that may affect an individual person during the event.

Medical

By entering, competitors assure that they comply with all medical requirements as outlined in the JA Sporting Code and IJF Refereeing Rules. In entering the competition, each competitor is required to certify a series of medical and health matters as part of the registration process.

This event is subject to all COVID-19 related regulations, guidelines and directions of the Australian Government and public health authorities. The Judo ACT COVID Safe Event Plan identifies and seeks to minimise the risks posed by COVID-19 to our competitors, coaches, officials, volunteers, spectators, families and the broader community. The COVID Plan will be posted on the Judo ACT website.

Individuals (competitors, spectators, volunteers and officials) are not to attend the competition if they:

• are unwell

• have been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the past 14 days • have travelled overseas in the previous 14 days

• have been to a COVID affected area in the previous 14 days (refer to

www.covid19.act.gov.au)

The ‘Check In CBR’ app will be used to collect details of everyone attending the event. For details go to www.covid19.act.gov.au/check-in-cbr.

Accreditation collection at weigh in

The control of entries and issuing of accreditation cards will take place during the official weigh in. Athletes (15 years and older) must be able to provide identification, including proof of age during accreditation.

Coach Accreditations

Each club will receive up to 2 accreditations, these accreditations will be available for collection during the official weigh in time slots. A desk will be set up for collection of coach accreditations.

Photos and Filming

Photos and filming of athletes may be taken by Judo ACT during the competition and these images may be placed on the internet and/or social media channels.
