By the end of this week,
we will be writing a
persuasive leaflet
persuading people to visit
Daintree Rainforest (this
is “Where the Forest
Meets the Sea” is set). We
will be building up to
writing it throughout the
week.
What persuasive
features can you
remember?
English
Task A
Today we are going to practise writing a persuasive advert using adverbs of possibility. Our
persuasive adverts today will focus on items that Fred and George (from the Harry Potter books and
films) have invented and sell in their shop.
Tasks:
1)
Reading or listening to the extract on the next slide, note down the inventions that Fred and
George mention.
2)
Write a short persuasive advertisement (between 6 and 10 sentences) persuading the audience
to buy one of the products from the extract..
3)
You
must
use adverbs of possibility.
4)
Use Hermione’s tips for writing great adverts to help you!
Extension:
Put your writing
into a persuasive
poster. Think
carefully about how
you would structure
your poster to
persuade the
audience.

Going on a pilgrimage can sometimes be seen as being similar to being a tourist going on holiday.
Sort these words:
Holiday / travel / journey / prayer / spiritual / swimming / worship / happy / food / once in a lifetime / ambition / hope / change / relax / challenge / fun / deep thoughts / River Ganges / Hindus /
mountains.
