Engagement for fidelity

•The NIT group, established in 2001, consisted of G1 PMTO-specialists.

•NIT has been responsible for developing and

conducting the Norwegian PMTO-training program.

•Main tasks:

•Sustainability of Fidelity in PMTO

•Certification

•Organizing and conducting supervision

•To solve these tasks, NIT has cooperated with

Developing a Norwegian supervision system

•The development of a Regional Supervision

Maintenance System started in 2003 when 83 G2 therapists were certified.

•The maintenance groups consist of 4 - 8 therapists.

•The groups meet 8 days per year.

•The supervision system has been practiced until 2011 with few changes.

How has this engagement been possible?

•The supervisors have been engaged, competent

and responsible to ensure fidelity for all these years.

•The therapists have contributed with a very positive attitude.

•The supervisors have participated in:

•Teamwork

•Differentiated work tasks

New demands when going to scale

• The need to engage more and new supervisors appeared when the number of therapists

reached over 300 with the G4’s.

• In addition to a large number of therapists, we also had to relate to a large number of sites.

• Our solution to this demand was to develop a training program for systematic training in

The training program for PMTO-supervisors

•Developed and conducted by Mona Duckert, Anett Apeland and Elisabeth Askeland.

•Given in all regions in Norway from spring 2009 until spring 2011.

•Consist of 4 workshops (totally 8 days) and 3 home-assignments.

•Each workshop focus on PMTO-topics and

Supervision topics. The content is adapted to the new supervision system.

•60 participants were offered to start and 51 have completed.

Knowledge base for the content of the

supervision program

PMTO topics: Through observation of a vast

amount of certification tapes, we have learned were the training and supervision can be deepened to

develop the therapist skills even further.

Supervision topics: Supervision literature, models and guidelines for clinical work combined with

Each work shop has the same structure

•First day perspective:

•The therapy room

•Practice in the role of the therapist and in the role as parent

•Second day perspective:

•The supervision room

•Practice in the role of supervisor and the role as therapist

Feedback during supervision training

•Some experienced PMTO-supervisors expressed that the workshops could prevent burnout.

•Several participants told us that they felt inspired to use the supervision tools.

•Several have emphasized that they have gotten a better understanding of how to use FIMP in

Evaluation of the supervision program

•Each workshop ended with a verbally and written feedback

•Two of the home assignments are videotaped and assessed.

•After completing the whole program, the participants receive a questionnaire. 32 have answered until

now.
